Hi All,

Any help appreciated. My system hard drive crashed and I don't have any backups, they got lost.
I am running XP sp3 and Sonar Producer 8.5.3 after re-installing XP and updates I re-installed 8.5.3 and the Delta driver for XP, then realized that I used to run in ASIO mode and installed Asio4all. When I open up a recent project I get messages about not finding the ASIO drivers and it asks me if I want to change to other options. I hit the options button and the option to use the exact ASIO driver is there that it says is missing. After selecting it and saving when I re-open the project I get the same message.

It's been so long ago that I set this machine up I don't remember if there is anything I'm missing. Or is there a certain order that the M-Audio driver and ASIO4all needs to be installed in?

Thanks for any help!

Should have used the opportunity to upgrade to Windows 7 or 8...
Should not be using ASIO4ALL at all. Use the M-Audio drivers.

M-Audio Win 7 drivers will not synch a Delta 1010 and a 44. They denied it was a problem for two years then finally admitted it, but still haven't fixed it. So I am stuck on XP until they do something about it. And apparently they aren't real worried about it.

I can't remember the issue that made me install the asio4all and from what I've gathered on another thread I'm on my way to uninstall it right now.

Thanks for the input!!!!! :-)

If this makes any sense, I uninstalled asio4all and had to switch to M-Audio asio driver mode for it to work. It seems that something in Windows is tying up the drivers and not allowing me to use WMD mode. I remember that there was something in Windows XP that I really had to dig for to get it to release the drivers but can't remember what it was now.

Anyone remember what it was?

You can't use 2 soundcards with ASIO mode. That's probably why you're using ASIO4ALL which is really a WDM wrapper.

I think there are a lot of Delta users around here. Even though you use 8.5 try posting in the X1 forum where there is a LOT more users reading. Or even post in the Hardware forum. I think you can upgrade etc.

Thanks guys, I was able to google my original posts with these problems from 2008 and it appears that I did have to switch to ASIO to get the multiple card synch to work.

These forums have changed since I was last here and will now only let me search back over a period of 365 days max. unless I am missing something. But google let me find the original thread and it appears the WDM mode will not synch two cards but ASIO will.

No it's the other way around. But don't mix asio4all with the proper ASIO drivers. As Dave just said asio4all is really not ASIO drivers but a type of wrapper. It's considered a last resort if nothing else works. I tried it years ago and found I had terrible syncing issues. Stick to using the most up to date ASIO drivers or WDM. This is the recommendation by Cakewalk, try both first before using asio4all.

Oh, I uninstalled asio4all and just switched the m-audio driver mode to asio and it appears to be working properly now. When I tried WDM mode I get a message saying that something is using the WDM drivers or they won't support the bit rate ect. I remember that this was an issue a while ago and I found that there is an option in XP buried deep somewhere to get XP to let go of the drivers, but I can't remember where it is buried at now. It is a moot point now that I found that ASIO allows me to synch my two cards, so I really don't need to dig for that option using ASIO.

Unless someone remembers where that setting is, I wouldn't mind finding it again.
