Hi,

I am trying to find a way that when a song stops, the scrolling bar stops as well. For example, I have a song that is about 2 minutes and 59 seconds but when the music ends, the scrolling bar continues.  I had burned a cd of 4 songs and there was about 5 seconds gaps between tracks; when the first song stopped, the 2n;d played 5 seconds later.  I am guessing that I need to close the gap between when Sonar X1 stops on each song.  I tried highlighting the end and selecting where I wanted the bar to stop and tried deleting but that didn't work. I tried burning the CD with Roxio NXT and iTunes but am getting the same result.  Does anyone know how to go about editing in Sonar to have the scrolling stop when the music stops?

Thanks!

So, I think I should describe how I export songs... You highlight the region and tracks you want to export and then File > Export > Audio.

A dialogue opens and you can set some parameters like file name and bit depth etc. When making a CD, I export 16 bit Wave Files.

Now, with this known, how do you prep a track to be the right length etc... What I do is select the range of the song in ruler area (usually I add markers to the ruler at the beginning and end of the song). I select all tracks, and click in the ruler between the two markers selecting the Range. Then I execute a Tracks > Bounce to Tracks. If it's the first song of a night's jamming I let Bounce to tracks create a new mixdown track. Otherwise, I keep using the same mix down track. After it is bounced, I add fading and trimming to the ends of the songs track. I make sure the mixdown track is routed directly to the interface and not to the master bus which has fx on it. Last, I click on the Clip and choose File > Export > Audio.

This way, if I want to shorten or lengthen the clip a little to get the right distance between songs, I can easily come back to this point and make the tweak.

John, I think he wants the scrolling to stop once there are no more clips to play. I'm not sure I know of a way to do this. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't know of a marker that you can add that Sonar will not play or record past. Think how awful it would be if an awesome recording was accidentally interrupted!

As per the post above the now time will stop at the end of a song. It will not RTZ.
If that is not what the OP wants I don't know what he is asking.

I think it's when the song ENDS.

Edit: and the return option doesn't change the behavior.

Ah, I reread the OP. Right the now time will stop when the end of the total song is at its end. Meaning nothing more to play. The Now Time will only keep going if there is an event further on.

There is the option under Track view >>> Options > Stop at Project End.

If you have MIDI events or audio activity beyond the end of the song, it will not stop until its played all of them. Therefore, check the end of your project and make sure there isn't any MIDI or audio or control events beyond the end.

Other events will also cause the song to keep on playing past the "notional" end:
