  • A Problem changing Screensets (not SOLVED)

Hi

When I change Screensets everything works fine and snappy, but, when I change back to Screenset 1 it takes between 8/10 seconds for it it to change back.  This happens every time and is now becoming tiresome.

My graphics card is an Nvidia GT 640 which has the latest drivers.

I've tried everything I can think of including a BIOS update.  Everything else is working as well as can be expected.

Any thoughts?

Do you have floppy disk drivers enabled?

Check out this Cakewalk article...

Hi Scott,  thanks for your response.

I had checked that but there was no floppy facility in the BIOS, however I've just been back in again and found that somehow the on board graphics and sound had become enabled... Go figure, I am sure I had turned them off when I updated the BIOS.

Anyhow, all is snappy again.   maybe the occasional audio dropouts I've been experiencing will disappear also! :-).

I'll change the title to solved.

Well stone the crows!!!!

It started happening again.... and guess what, it turns out that with the Breverb (full version) open on my second screenset showing the Bus console view on my second monitor it stopped my screenset changing quickly back to 1.  Close the Breverb GUI and back to snappy again....

Well I never....... before submitting a bug report can anybody else reproduce this??

One project or multiple? I have seen the odd anomaly especially in older projects.

Karl, thanks for responding. I'm going to check now. But certainly in this project.

Since disabling the onboard graphics, and sound  the problem is definitely more intermittent where as before it was EVERY time I changed screenset back to 1 - changing between the others is fine.

I have another project to start mixing now so I'll check on that one too.

Ok something isn't right with my setup.

I have just tried with another project, the screensets change is snappy as one would expect, but about every 3rd time I go back to screenset 1 I get an audio dropout. I wasnt doing rapid changes either.

On the other project the screenset change was sluggish and an occasional dropout.

Something isn't happy :-(

Things I have tried so far......

Increased audio buffers

Increased the value for dropouts in the config file to 750 from 250, it was in between at 500

Disabled onboard sound and graphics in the BIOS

Disabled EIST (Speedstep) in the BIOS

There is no floppy setting I can find in my BIOS

Anything I have missed?

Nothing I can think of, although it may be worth checking the device manager for a floppy device to disable although I doubt it'll be there. Besides which that would consistently slow the changing down.

Is there anything "different" about screenset one such as a particular view or setting that is different to the others?
