What was this thread about?  Ohh...

Still I have found "bugs" /problems still no one seem to care to fix them at Cakewalk? Cakewalk use to be fast on sending out update not slooooooooooowwwwwww as today. I really like that. Also they use to add new things, listing on the customers. I will soon leave this boat if this pattern continue.

78% of all 'bugs' are simply the result of ignorant users who have failed to read the instructions.
10% of 'bugs' are the result of the end user having a different idea of how a feature should have been implemented than the software designer specified in the functional specifications.
7% of 'bugs' are the result of improperly applied configuration or interaction with third party components that do not match the API specifications.
5% of 'bugs' are actually software nor performing as designed.

And how do you arrive at such precise numbers? Did you do a study?  Did you read a study?  What give gives you confidence the above numbers are realistic or accurate?

Just out of interest, what is the correct definition for a 'bug'?

It seems to me that some of you see a crucial part of such a definition to be that a bug is reproducible.

But I experience a 'bug' with the Now Time Marker that isn't 'reproducible' - even on just my system. It doesn't disappear as some have noted, it just fails to move at all when I hit the transport (in Play and Record); the only way I've found to cure this is to switch to the Console View and back again to the Track View. I can't cause this 'bug' and it happens only intermittently.

So should this be classified as a bug? Or should we maybe refer to it as a 'glitch'?

Or could my system be the cause of the fault? Or maybe I've hit a keyboard shortcut by accident?

Edit to clarify - when the NTM fails to move, the project still plays or records correctly. And the problem is nothing to do with the Scroll Lock or Pause/Break buttons.

steve, next time this happens try going to the top of the timeline until you see the zoom feature (that little magnifying glass that zooms in) and right click.
this is a feature.
a tell tale sign of having to switch back and forth between console view and track view to reset it.
its a feature where if you make an edit when the timeline is in motion the NTM will freeze to allow you to make edits with out the timeline skipping to the next frame.
theres also a way to shut this off under views option in the TV.

just give it a shot next time.
or to test it out try making an edit in TV or PRV while the transport is in motion, youll see it will still play and record correctly but it wont move.
then reset it as explained above.

Just look and IK Multimedia.

Oh geez, I sure hope this isn't the direction CW is following.   I don't own any i-devices, so IKM is a company I look at less and less all the time.

NP steve,
i was stumped myself for hours with this one back when x2 first came out since I do a lot of edits on the fly.

That's why I like this feature!  I don't think I've ever turned it off.

I am going to look around DAWs when X3 is released. Wouldn't mind giving Samplitude a go.

For me, who uses a DAW as a super powerful tape recorder, X2 since the quick fix has been very stable. Like Seth and Brandon said in the webinar- it feels snappier (to me) than X1 ever did.

It's certainly less buggy (for me) than my first Sonar: 7. Looking back, that was quite a buggy program (for me).

But oddities still abound. Weird things that may not be bugs but don't feel right or inspire confidence. Like when in mixer view sometimes opening pro channel on a buss can cause a crash, and when I slide the buss channels to the right any prochannel modules I have added slide at a different rate to the EQ ProChannel and other modules. WTF? I get the occasionally disappearing nowtime wonderbar too.

Hope they add clip gain Nuendo style and steal the Project5 method of adding an audio editor. Who even knows if there will be an X3 or how seriously they feel about people whining on these boards. Probably only a couple of hundred people post here on a weekly basis and may not be representative of the "average" Cakewalk user.

X2 A-Update--> 2012-18-12...2013-05-27 and still no new B update?
There are no excuse that we need to sit and wait for a simple  "fix - problems" update so long. I use SONAR X2 in m daily job, a tool for me making music and productions. X2a okay stable but all other DAWs are that too like Cubase, Logic, Samplitude. I wouldn't expect less from a professional DAW program... or isn't SONAR X2 that?

Still I have found "bugs" /problems still no one seem to care to fix them at Cakewalk? Cakewalk use to be fast on sending out update not slooooooooooowwwwwww as today. I really like that. Also they use to add new things, listing on the customers. I will soon leave this boat if this pattern continue.

NO! I will not buy X3 I have had it.

I'm looking and thinking of going back to Cubase 7 that has features like stability, VST3 + audio features, fantastic new mixer view use of large project, ICONS, METER, FREE COLOR of TASTE of the program GUI, Control Room, batch, Score notation, video-engine, and support of professional hardware control like EUCON, SSL, Yamaha right out of the box.

I love SONAR GUI and Pro channel but the last year its not the same Cakewalk anymore. No color option, no VST3, no listen on customer, fire key members of Cakewalk organization, it seem more less Cakewalk ending their business?

Perhaps they aiming to make programs to beginners / toys and "first time" amature segment obviously not the professional user.
They seem more interested of putting all effort making Music creator 6, download with Steam when you download your other games... instead of making a update patch B for the professional users..
I just ordered Cubase 7.

I haven't even demo it. I have long time experience I know Cubase in and out. I know it going to work perfectly when I get it end of this week.
All sweet things that drive me to change from Cubase/Logic to SONAR 6 years ago are now available in Cubase 7 + much more too.
Ironically the features I liked in SONAR are all gone today example free color of the GUI?

Today Cubase 7 have all things I need and has asked for in Sonar X2 example x64bit support, Icons, color the GUI and black arrange background, automatic clips line up correctly----> no need of resizing and cutting midi clips all day long making them in measurement BAR length like in SONAR today? (what up with that in Cakewalk?) , universal commands like CTR+D = Copy & paste in one go,  Flexible mixer-large project, VST3 support, more then 3plugins in FXs bin, More then 2 sends available in Mixer view, smart ---> select only midi clip to make downmix...not clip + audio synth track to get a downmix. Control room, Advance audio editing, Advance Automation even though SONAR X2 new automation work in a breeze. Midi function, Retrospective Record: no take ever gets lost because record mode wasn’t engaged in time, professional hardware control support like AVID, SSL, Yamaha + their own Steinberg controllers. Cubase 7 work with touch screens too...

SONAR X2 doesn't even support their own V700 product?

I will still have SONAR X2 in my DAW setup but my new work horse will be Cubase 7 x64. Thank you all nice member here that help me over the years with SONAR. without you I haven't made the cross grade 6 years ago. I will still continue to monitor and write in this forum. SONAR is still going strong in my heart, I don't like what has become of Cakewalk last year. I hope they get on right track again.

SONAR has the potential to the best DAW on the market if they just listen more on the customers and end-users and stop holing back example VST3, Flexible mixer, Score, ARA, support of all PRO control surfaces, automatic clips line up correctly----> no need of resizing and cutting midi clips all day long making them in measurement BAR length like in SONAR today? Video engine, More advance audio editing, better meter and meter visibility, long faders...
