I wonder how many more X2b request threads we will have...

I planned on upgrading to X2 very soon; but there seems to be many people here that are very unhappy with it, so the best thing is to wait.  I like to wait a bit when something new comes out so they can have the fixes, and less hassle being a tester.  But maybe I will skip on X2 since there seems to be uncertainty about the future of the company.

there always will be critical people, many basing their criticisms on valid reasons (for them).

that withstanding, Sonar X2 works really well and is a complete creative joy to use.  I recommend it highly.

I for one find myself very disturbed at the severely broken ties between the Cakewalk team and the public/forums in the last number of months...

Of course they're busy working on it as that's what they do! When/what are they next giving us is the mystery...

Tho I professionally work with X2a every day, I'm sure my attitude in front of clients is not making Cakewalk look god as I continue to get derailed by the many bugs and poor (recent) design changes...

Other software a may have had more updates, but then again Abe they were that much buggier? Hard to say. I don't refer to make this a competition tho I realize that is involved in all business/choice making...

I was not happy with X1 but at east the team was in regular contact with us (Brandon/Seth/Robin) and ther were so welcome fixes in X2... But alas ther were also some serious setbacks (Lanes/Zoom) which are plaguing my work and attitude...

I know that there has been some posts from a few of The Bakers, but few, far between and carrying very little actual info...

So? Here's hoping for a big wonderful surprise when the new Roland incarnation of Team soon fulfills our needs!

I for one can completely understand why there are so many X1b threads. It is the devs total reluctance to announce any news regarding an update when it's quite clear that the customers demand to know what exactly is going on, is growing by the week.
I believe this is bad business for two reasons.
Knowingly ignoring unrest amongst your current user base is a dangerous game to play given the amount of serious competition out there.
Anyone stumbling on these forums with a view to buying sonar will quite obviously be concerned by the apparent lack of developer support.

Its also not inconceivable that there are some issues within X2 that need major work and as such need time to resolve properly. I am hoping that Roland recognise what's needed to turn this otherwise superb DAW into a product that's at least partially moulded by the comments of their loyal fan base who in my opinion have ignored some of the largest and longest standing requests without explanation. That of course is their right.
The bottom line is that they could turn the negative X1b threads into positive ones with just one simple statement, regardless of time frame.

There have been a couple of posts from Ryan Munnis [Cakewalk] where he said the development team is quite busy. Admittedly this doesn't say what they are busy on but if I read it correctly they are actively working on Sonar.

Hard to tell what the road map for release is but if I were to hazard a guess I would say in the fall and X3.

Regards,

To be fair, can you ever imagine anyone from Cakewalk saying "the development team isn't very busy at the moment, in fact they're pretty much sat around twiddling their thumbs"

I for one am very happy with x2a / been really productive with it.
with that being said, I understand there reasons for not explaining future plans to us but...and I say but...
there is a big lack of communication with the users here on the forum and cakewalk right now they may become damaging and I only hope they release a thread soon with some sort of direction.
not an actual list of upcoming releases, but an idea on the direction there heading to.

I'd welcome anything they post as it would at least "show" that they're paying attention...

I will bet that there are days when Noel feels that way (even though he knows best that it is not the case).
