  • Bug Corroboration Needed - Clone Track Issue (More Users Confirm!)

Hi Gang...

I posted a problem report about this a little while ago and I got back a status report to contact tech as it appears to be working and must be system specific...

The problem is with the ProChannel Post Status button... If I have it enabled and I clone the track, the cloned track does NOT have the Post status enabled...

I have tried this on two machines here...

1) MacPro/bootcamp/Win7x64 (dual 3.2GHz Xeons/16GB RAM Presonus Audiobox 1818VDL+Soundsscape SS8io-1 via ADAT

2) Below spec dual core running Vista32 with a Soundscape Mixtreme 192

Tech support tried on a number of machines but it works fine there....

It exhibits this on both machines... Common denominator? they were both installed from the same disk for X2 and the same d/l for X2a.... and I'm not prepared to re-do the install for such an issue.... PITA, but not worth the work of re-doing all the setup I have...

So for the moment, I'm just trying to see if there are any other users out there who experience this...

Again, the recipe is simple....

Start a new project.
Enable PC on an audio track
Set the PC to Post
Clone the track with all options selected (except link to original clip)

Then check the PC status on the cloned track and see if it is set to Post (enabled)...

Much thanks for anyone/everyone's help...

Keni

[edit]

BTW I just ruled out eh X2 disk (install) or the X2a update (d/l) as it happens on both machines even as far back as X1 Expanded... so I'm surprised I took this long to notice...

I followed your instructions and the cloned track came up with PC being post FX bin. It works as expected.

Thanks Guys...

They had the same results at Cakewalk... so I'm hunting for any others who are experiencing this...

Both of these machines are a bit "unusual" as one is below min spec and the other is under bootcamp on a macpro...

So I continue to search for any others who can corroborate...

Cloning a track here does NOT retain post FX bin setting on the cloned track.

AHA!

Thanks d_in_conduct...

So it's not just my machines... Is there anything unusual about your system? Which interface(s) do you use?

Now I've got to (somehow) let the Bakers know... Hmmm... How do I send them a link to this message?

I've never done that before...

Here's hoping we get a few more and maybe we can get a handle on what we might have in common?

Thanks Brian...

Nothing to be sorry 'bout. I'm sure it works fine for the majority as they couldn't reproduce it at Cakewalk... So I'm just hunting for others in the hope that we uncover a common thread for this minority... ;-)

Much Thanks for checking and reporting...

Keni - I opened a new project - inserted a track.  Set PC to Post and cloned it.  The new track retained the Post.  Turned off Post on track 2, cloned it, track 3 cloned as expected.  Went back to track 1 (with Post on) and cloned it.  The new track DIDN'T retain the post.  Cloned Track 1 again and the new track again DIDN'T retain the post status.

So at first it appeared to work, but after cloning other tracks and going back to the original, it started mis-behaving.

I remember having this issue in X1 also.  Since the advent of PC effects bins in X2, I always work to leave the post off so that I don't accidentally get tricked by this problem.

I'm running Window7 64bit - i5 quad core processor.

Keni - A little OT - have you ever tried running vmware Fusion 5 instead of bootcamp?  Supposed to work really well - can run Sonar within the Mac OS without losing any resources or processing power or memory.  Sounds interesting - I'm thinking of getting a Mac.

Hi Keni,
Confirmed here...happens every time. I insert an audio track, press the "post" button, clone the track and the post button is off on the new track.
