I originally had this pegged for a female vocalist, but nothing transpired as of yet...so I filled in with more instrumentals.

If you like Enya and want a shot at this...maybe we can work something out!

Fantastic.
In fact made hairs stand up on my arms in some parts.
Really... great job.

Wow Tim, really great one here.  Quite different from some other things I've heard from you.  Do you mind sharing what instruments/synths you are using for this piece?

Nice job Tim it does indeed sound well arranged with a good tune, yes a vox would be nice.  Sorry but one minor niggle a couple of places the strings got just a tad harsh on my furry ears, this is probably my furry ears so I would not be overly concerned.

Garybrun- I like it when I make the hairs stand up :):)...Thank you!

kakku- Thanks Kakku!

Walt- This is really a lot of things together Walt. I used string samples from the following: Kontakt 5 Factory Library, Dimension Pro Garratain Pocket orchestra and Kontakt Session Strings Pro and Kirk Hunter Strings..it's over 20 tracks of synths. I was surprised at how nice the strings in Dimension Pro are compared to the others. I think they hold their own if you can find the right articulations. I got the expansion paks awhile back and one of those is an orchestral/cinematic pak.....I could have probably done 99% of it in Dimension Pro. I found a tempo and an arpeggio I liked and it triggers a harp sound in the background. I wanted a kind of old world vibe and so I used an higher "accordian like" sound tied to another arpeggio to give it a kind of old euro feel. Vocals are mixed samples from several libraries.

Wookie- Thanks Wookie!.I'll look at what I can do with those strings.I appreciate your reckoning of it .

Nice arrangement Tim!  Love the pizz strings!  A couple of the lead violin parts seemed to harshly jump out at me on my crappy computer speakers, so I don't know if it's the mix or my speakers.

loved it from the intro, Tim!  really nice sound, nice composition.

I, too, would have loved to have heard some vox, but in THIS version you don't have room for them, you'd likely have to change it a lot to get some vox in there.

great job man!

Tony- Hmmm I'll revisit that to see if they are a bit harsh. Thanks!!

Beagle- Thanks! Yes I would certainly need to lighten the music some for a vocalist.

great pulse, almost reggae-like, fun. Particularly liked the middle section, when it got a little more sparse.

I would vote for nuking the square-wave type lead synth in the first part, maybe this is where your someday singer would dominate? The square wave didn't stack well with the more organic violins and such, in my opinion, but your may vary!

It would be pretty difficult to emulate Enya and her mixing techniques, and I think you have done a first-rate job.

The ending could fade out, or come to a conclusion, but as of now it just kind of stops as instrument by instrument sort of drops out.  What about a nice, long fade? What are your plans?

good job, man!

cheers,
-Tom
