Hi everyone, I'm sitting here without access to my DAW at the moment, so I can't check or verify this for myself. Is it possible (using MIDI sends or a MIDI FX plugin) to send MIDI data from one MIDI track in Sonar X1 to multiple MIDI channels on a port. To give an example, I would like to have the following MIDI tracks: - Violins 1 (Ch# 1) - Violins 2 (Ch# 2) - All Violins (Ch# 1+2) - Violas (Ch# 3) - Cellos (Ch# 4) - Basses (Ch# 5) - Low Strings (Ch# 4+5) This is a little bit of a simplistic example, but it gives you an idea of what I want to do :) Many thanks, Martin

  • You can only send a track to one port. (a VSTi = 1 port) so you can't send a track to mutiple VSTi's (external synths of course could use the midi through port.)
  • Any note in that track can be assigned a channel - so you can use a multitimberal VSTi.
  • You can not assign a note to more than one channel.
You could thus have 16 instruments on one track, as long as they went throught the same port. If instruments share notes you would need another note of the same pitch and time, but with a different channel.

if you make a drum map up you can. as long as you know the note numbers to send to (i.e 60 for middle C and so on)

You might want to look into using a 64-bit virtual MIDI cable (like LoopBe1).
