Curious as to why Sonar X2 is so slow in loading my current project? I also use FL Studio and compared to Sonar, when loading projects, FL Studio is like greased lightning.

What sample rate are you using? What plug-ins are in that project? How many audio tracks? How long is the piece? Need more info.

In my experience, Sonar project loading time is pretty linear with respect to how many plugins the project has.

Obviously some take longer than others (Garritan Personal, I'm looking at you).

Try opening your project in safe mode - is it fast? Then it isn't the number of tracks that is slowing it down.

Some of my plugins, notably Miroslav Philharmonik cause Sonar to load slowly while they are loaded into memory if I have more than a few instances. Using a memory profiler I can watch as the RAM being allocated (snore). If I have a large project with a lot of such plugins, I just go make a cup of coffee while I'm waiting

I have 17 tracks. 3 midi tracks, the rest audio. One of the midi tracks is Dimension Pro with a string section selected. 2 instances of Z3TA+ 2. Guitar Rig 5, Izotope Nectar, Izotope Alloy 2 for the plugins. It is about 4:45 minutes long. Sampling rate of 44100.

I have used all of the above, with the exception of Dimension Pro maybe, at various times in FL Studio 10 and never noticed it being as slow as Sonar 2 at any time. Have seen the CPU get really high during playback because of plugins but it never loaded this slow.

Thanks for your replies. Guess it is something I'll have to live with.
