I have 3 Hard drives in my PC. OS is Intel SSD.

I have two regular 3.5" hard drives for (1) for samples\storage and (1) for audio.

If I change out the 2 regular HD's will that activate the authorization crap of all my VST's?
IOW, will that change the machine code (or whatever the plugs and Sonar, etc look at)?

I would like to think the machine code is based upon-os HD, Graphics cards, motherboard and possibly sound card and that any other drives-external or internal don't matter to the authorization method.
Thank you

Most of those should be in your registry.  For me I have removable HDs in treys and I have never had a problem swapping out an HD.

Keep in mind that the system disk holds all the VSTs I have and that is where the registry is.

I would think that some VSTs use some sort of code in some hidden file some where but that should be on your system disk too.

That's what I am hoping. My sample drive is clicking real bad and fails all smart test. I have backups so I have to give it a shot.
I have WD Caviar Black SATAIII to replace it with. And my new board has 6G MB connectors.
Thanks John

Worked fine-replaced the drive-restored the sample backup from external HD and all the VST's work fine-all Isotopes, Kontakt, SSD Platinum 4, etc, etc

Uh
Thanks John and Thanks Chuck.
