In X2, whenever I mute or solo a track, I get a strange flickering of the other tracks. I just started noticing this recently.

Here's a video showing the problem:

Any idea how to fix it?

I get that from time to time. It's not consitent though - I thought it might be my graphics card but maybe not if you are seeing it as well.

I use mute and solo all the time and I have not seen that.

I would check that you have the latest graphics driver for your card.

So far I have not seen this on mute and solo but have seen this when using the browser.

It's definitely not a graphics card issue; I see the track lanes changing shape, and the red record buttons flashes on each track in turn. It's very odd.

It is happening on a project which is also having a problem with take lanes already appearing, regardless of my trying to turn them off:

AFAICT it seems to be related to Auto Track Zoom.

When I disable this the flickering goes away. I could not figure out why I was having this problem as well. But going to View (not Views) > Auto Track Zoom and disabling it...appears to solve the problem. It was becoming quite irritating here but it seems to have some connection to the Auto Track Zoom command.
No guarantee it will help everyone but the work around above might work and is surely worth a try.

The problem is a little less visible when tracks are in folders but it can still be seen (here at least if Auto Track Zoom is enabled).

Great, thanks for the info!

For me, the problem isn't noticeable on all projects, just some. It might have something to do with track lanes as well, since I remember that in the really "bad" project I was experimenting with track lanes. Perhaps overlapping clips are part of the problem?

Does your project have overlapping clips within a track?

disabling auto zoom was the workaround. looked ok after that

For me I have auto zoom on in most of my projects that are recent and I have no flickering.

Maybe overlapping clips are another trigger for the problem but AFAICT I do not have any overlapping clips in the projects that had the flickering issue here. It's interesting to see that the issue can be worked around for some and is not an issue at all for others. I guess this problem is more complicated to solve than I initially thought. I wish I could have been more help.  If there is another patch for X2 hopefully some kind of fix for this can be added. I did submit a bug using the problem reporter... CWBRN-17446  as it is easily reproduced here when Auto Track Zoom is enabled.
