X2 64bit TTS1 Synth not working out of the box!

This is unbelievable.

I have had stability problems with x1d (Essentials) with very basic uncomplicated projects, I won't go into them here, so I upgraded to X2 Studio.

I7 (Gen2)  quad core laptop with 8gb of ram. plenty good enough.
Roland VS-100 interface/control surface.
Roland RD 700 SX (I use the sounds on it as well as modest amount of softsynths.

The sounds coming from the TTS1 are weird nothing like the instruments they are supposed to be.
sound like a distorted analogue synth. not strings or piano etc.

This is Cakewalks own product, should work out of the box.

Just installed today. I am over this app (never could get x1 to work with any stability) but unfortunately I am commited.
Please help me.

Well where can we start?

What are your buffer and latency settings? What's your sound card?

How have you inserted TTS-1? It should work out of the box if the settings are right. Are your other soft synths working ok? According to what I've read here on the forum, X2 is not going to bring more stability, as there are many
things people are still struggling with, but many of the teething problems of X1 are fixed.

Your gear looks fine, but the buffers, latency settings and drivers must be right in order get things running.
What driver mode are you using. Have you checked that ONLY Roland/it's drivers is selected as your audio gear and card in Preferences?

My Sound Card is already stated in original post.
It is not a Latency Buffer issue.

Set your sample rate to 44.1khz.

Not some of the issues that confronted me (but they are not relevant here)

I insert synths all the usual ways as I have in previous versions, simple instrument, with midi track and single or multiple outputs, or as a synth (audio) track only and then manually output midi tracks to the relevant synth, (and various other variations on these two themes. I have used soft synths successfully numerous times in previous versions including x1.
All my Vsti synths work.  It is the Dxi's that are a problem TTS1 inserts but has strange sound coming from it as though the digital to analogue conversion is corrupted, it sounds bizarre.  Some of the Dxi synths won't load( for example to Pentagon 1) and an error message states they may not be properly installed. Yet as I already stated the VSTi's work fine and there are no latency issues.

I had been using asio in the past and at first install with x2 but now wdm. both work for all but dxi synths (so far, have not had much time with it yet just installed a few hours ago)
My Roland drivers are the latest from Roland for Win 7 64 for my VS-100 and they are the only ones selected.
This issue was not present in X1 TTS1 and other dxi's worked.
 Thanks

To solve this Pentagon issue you need to run Sonar as administrator.

I think Phrygiann may have hit the nail on the head. I recall reading that TTS-1 does not like some sample rates.

Actually I don't think the sample rate has anything to do with it. I have used TTS1 on various Sonar incarnations with anything from 44.1 48 and 96 without issue.  (88.2 is the only one to stay away from according to Cakewalk Help)

I think I have found the answer.

All the dxi synths are 32bit and will not run in Sonar x64 only Sonar  x32

The Vsti synths on the other hand some are 64bit some are 32bit and Cakewalk have enabled the 32bit ones to run in Sonar x64 using bitbridge.

So to get the 32bit dxi synths to run I need a vst wrapper (or something along those lines).

Is this correct thinking? Am I on the right track (Anyone who actually knows)

Thanks

You might well be right with respect to the 32bit DXi synths needing a wrapper, I wouldn't know because I don't go near them. But TTS-1 works fine for me so it must be something to do with your setup...

Actually, I'm talking crap. I just turned on my laptop (I'm at work atm) and I realise now that TTS-1 is a DXi.

I have a test project, created because I have recently upgraded to Windows 8 and I have inserted an instance of every synth I have, including the freebies, just to make sure everything is working okay. TTS-1 does work, though I will never use it.

Also, I didn't even install Pentagon this time round because, as great a synth as it is, and I do miss its vocoding capabilities, I got fed up with the Run as Admin trick.
