I have used TTS1 on various Sonar incarnations with anything from 44.1 48 and 96 without issue. (88.2 is the only one to stay away from according to Cakewalk Help) Have tested with asio and wdm at 24 bit depth and sample rates of 44.1,48 and 96. vsti synths work dxi don't. audio recording and playback works fine. midi keyboard works fine when used for hardware midi play back and record. All sample rates mentioned above and bit depth worked on x1 and x2a for all but dxi synths

Some DXi's do work using Windows 7 or 8 64-bit, i.e., TTS-1, Cyclone, Groove Player, Pentagon I and Roland Groove Synth (although you may not have all of those). Pentagon requires you to run Sonar as Administrator or it will give you an error.

You may want to try reinstalling TTS-1. DXi's have to be installed as opposed to VSTs which are scanned.

The sounds coming from the TTS1 are weird nothing like the instruments they are supposed to be. sound like a distorted analogue synth. not strings or piano etc.

For me the issue is knowing what are you hearing. Maybe you could post a link to an audio file because what you describe above and what that description means to me well TTS-1 sounds like that to me all the time.

Ever since X2 TTS-1 has been very prone to crashing for me.  If I change multiple tracks to point to it is usually crashes.

Then you have some other issue, because I use TTS-1 with many tracks and it never crashes on me. Run a memory test or maybe your soundcard's drivers need updating.

Try opening a new project in Sonar, insert the TTS-1 into the synthrack. On the TTS-1 interface, click on the button with the eighth note at the bottom of the track strip. Do you hear the piano sound? That should rule out a few things.

My drivers do not need updating and a memory problem would not consistently cause a specific issue with only one app.

OK. Well, I hope you figure it out.

I have done this and the sound I get is the same.  I tried recording a simple c major scale one octave with piano to export and show what this sounds like and something interesting happened. I froze the synth, selected the synth track, exported to mp3 and the piano came out sounding normal in the exported mp3 but is still weird and all distorted inside Sonar. What the?

I will try and install tts1 again as you mentioned.

Problem Sorted.  Not sure of the exact reason for this, but a combo of actions.

Went back to Asio Driver from WDM (though Asio did not work earlier.
Sample rate 48k and Bit Depth 24
Now I am certain I had already tried these settings as a switch between 48 and 96 / 24 bit and have done so in previous versions always with not issue. (I have used 44.1 also)

I went to do a reinstall in TTS1 so started the install process of X2 but aborted the bin extraction process just as it was starting because I did not want to spend the time at that moment.
Went back into app and reset the driver to Asio and the above settings were already set.
And hey presto.

Hmmm! Not sure what happened there.

Anyway before I jump up and down for happiness I will be testing through the day a little, to make sure it is stable.
I will try the other DXi synths.

thank you everyone for your input.
