It's all pretty much there, I think! Very good quality, nice Smoke on the Water references, the bass is super in the pocket, drives it. Queen vocal moments, check! Guitar solo, check! Tripled overdubbed guitars soloing, check!!!   I love it!

things build up, then kick ass.

Although the vocals are great, the backing vocals are REALLY supportive, the overall vocal production is solid, and the lyrics are interesting, I found myself most interested during the instrumental sections, which just jam like mad.

I think you have a cool rock voice, and you clearly know how to rock it. For some reason, I would like to hear the whole thing as an instrumental. To repeat, I am not complaining at all about your voice or the lyrics - just a vote for you to release an instrumental version - because it could stand alone, it's so good. You know what I mean?

anyway, just my .02, you clearly know what you are doing with this. My disclaimer would be, as personal tastes go, I was not a huuuuuuge fan of 80's hair bands, which I think is this song's territory. But was VERY into Joe Walsh ---> Rush ----->Satriani ---->right up to the point of something like .38 Special. Your tune might have a little more swagger in it than I'm used to appreciating, that's all.
You mention that this song has special meaning for you, which obviously refers to the lyrics, I get that totally.

thanks for the share!

emeraldsoul,
APPRECIATE THE COMMENTS!
this tune possibly started as an instrumental...
at least in basic structure,
but ultimately,
it has a story to tell,
that requires a narrative.
now, there's enough jamming stuff inbetween the lyrics,
to satisify most rockers that dig instrumentals!
LOL

---the 80's hair band thing, i'm not a big fan of that either,
and i don't have a clue what in this sounds like 80's hair band stuff.
not a clue.
but no matter, i don't care what inspires anybody to listen to it,
other than that they are inspired to listen!!
LOL
early rush, yes, early satch, yes, even /38 special ( i AM from jacksonville, after all!!)....
but not 80's rock.....
i'm really more inspired by early 70's classic rock than all the rest,
that and some very modern stuff.

I'm not a huge '70's/'80's hair band fan either but what ever this is it is doggone impressive.  To me it even has a wee touch of XTC (the vocals and timing) around and a bit after the 6:00 mark. This song has talent and skill all over it.  The instrumentals are powerful sounding but don't drown out the vocals.  In fact, the two blend nicely.  Nice lyrics by the way and you vocals are great.  Your guitar work is excellent (skillful) but the way you have used the different sounds and positioning of the various lead guitar parts is excellent.
Gooood stuff!!!!

Loved the guitars. Great mix and production. IMHO bring the vocals up a little -- in your face! Thanks and let me hear some more.

cool comments, freddy.....

i never think of my stuff in terms of 'genres', most of the time those monikers just don't stick.

mostly don't apply......

but i understand that people have memories that trigger, and they connect those to things to help voice ideas and opinions...

one thing i learned a long time ago...
when it comes to subjective opinions,
is that they are all over the place.

and ultimately, i go with what feels right, in terms of vibe, timing, arrangement, all that crap.
i KNOW i'm not going to hit all cylinders for everybody,
cuz that would require everybody being in the same headspace as me, when they listen to it.

but i do value all ideas, good bad indifferent, and use them to make 'better' choices the next time i do something,
which is right now.
