HotDamn Gonzo! Perfect sound on my system. I cranked this puppy up so all my neighbors could hear! The louder the better it sounds

alright bill! crank it!
that's the way it was meant to be played, loud and proud!!
as a matter of fact, it DOES sound better louder,
i'm still learning how to mix so it sounds good quiet and loud,
not there yet
i spend a good amount of time mixing at low volume, and mixing in the cans,
but make all final tweaks at 85db, which is pretty loud in my little studio.

Beagle
loved it from the intro, Gonzo, got my attention from the start!

guitars, vox are great as always. drums are sitting right in the mix. bass is excellent

great mix, great song!

thanks a lot beagle.
glad you got attended!
LOL
this was a Superior Drummer 2.0 mix, one of my first when i got the program.
typically, i'll do the rough arrangement, get the basic drums down, then freeze the synth and track to the temporary audio,
seems to free the computer up a bit.
then, once i'm through tracking, i'll go back and re-write drum parts, to more suit what i ended up playing.
mostly, taking stuff out, rather than adding.
then, i output each drum track to it's own channel, and mix it old school, NOT thru the superior mixer, which still sounds good,
but i use 24 bit raw drum files, and eq them with my own set of eq and compression.
it does sound good.
i just need to build a custom kit, and need a few more expansion packs to get all the sounds i really want.

Great track Bat! I loved it. Reposted.

thanks a lot starise, appreciate the solid response, and love to be reposted!

Dark and with serious attitude. Battastic!

really glad you dig this, waltenstein.....
got some even better stuff coming down the pike

This is freaking killer! Man. Sounds pretty much exactly like a song that would have been huge in the 80s. Would love to see it performed live.

thank you polar bear, glad you dig it.
this would be hard to pull off live, without at least 2 other guitar players!!
as it is, i like the 'studio' approach versus trying to write something that can be pulled off live...
i guess a solid live version of this would be just one big wide open guitar part,
covering bits and pieces of all the different recorded parts.

I just bought your album download from cdbaby. I'll be busy rocking out for a while...

damn waltenstein, that is so cool you picked up a download.
you know, some folks are perfectly happy with a download ( i hope the encoding is good enough, if not, let me know, i'll send you my own ripped 320kbps mp3's done in WAVELAB).....
but others like a CD, and the 16 bit files DO sound better, no doubt about it......
but i really appreciate it.

Just looked again at your cdbaby page, and it says the album was released in 2011. Also, all the songs' metadata says 2011.

Is that right? I thought you were working on these just recently?

this song ("Walked Away") is from my second album release, called "The Time is Magic".
that came out in 2011.
i am not working on these songs again, but i AM using them as 'guideposts', looking for feedback on the mixes and mostly the 'translations', as i am in the middle of final mixing 6 of the 10 new songs i have going on, for my 3rd album release, which i hope to have in a couple of months.
now, i have my FIRST album, entitled "Trouble", which was on Planet Records, and that company has since folded, and it is out of print.
i am starting to post my original mixes of that, in bits and pieces, because i plan on re-tracking, re-mixing, and re-releasing THAT album, and you may have tripped across one of those postings before, where i mentioned 're-mixing' and re-working, and THAT is going to happen right after i finish this 3rd new album.

i've only posted about half of 'the time is magic' here, but i have posted a few of these.
i find it extremely helpful, getting feedback on these previous mixes, as i'm in the middle of doing new mixes, comments can help me focus on things i haven't focused on.

by the way,
i have a free download (for anyone that buys the album in any format), that i'll be sending you shortly
check your pm

Always pleasure to see a Bat tune appear here even if it's origins are a little aged.

For me it could do with a tad more bottom end weight, I am listening on my Adam A7x's and it seems a little light on them and I know how low they can go even without a sub.

When I listen to you play, I want to pick up my guitar and hit the wah-wah pedal hard.  Unfortunately, my ankles won't let me get the kind of mojo that you have going for you, but it's fun trying.  I tend to agree with Wookie about the bottom end, but the rest is masterful.

Bat - Good one, I like it.  I hear a lot of influences in the guitar playing, some Queen harmonies (May), some Satch and Vai, Foghat, and some good old southern rock.  Nice meld of sounds.     Mix-wise, sounds really good, I wouldn't make any changes.

Regards

thanks markno999
i suppose coming from the deep south (new orleans, jax florida) would lend itself to some southern rock influence.....
foghat WAS a favorite when i was young....

you know, every since i re-worked my little studio, and added the ARC2 to my arsenal,
i've gotten better at low end translation....
i'll be interested in comparing my new mixes, with these older ones,
which is why i'm posting this stuff now!!
LOL

i'm actively comparing, and learning.
thanks for participating

I've long admired your guitar tones, and this tune perfectly illustrates why. Great rockin' song. Love the lead guitar, a bit of self indulgent excess that I can relate to. Let me grab my guitar, it's time to rock!
