I'll stay with SPlat until there is a compelling reason to switch. I started home recording with a dual cassette deck and then moved on to a Tascam Portastudio (4 track cassette) and then to a Korg D8 (8 track digital) and then moved over to PCs.
When buying HW and getting lite versions of recording SW I normally tried them and I'd glance at reviews of DAW SW, but nothing compelled me to leave Sonar, although I do use Live to sketch out ideas. Looking around again and reading comments about other DAW SW on this forum I still don't feel compelled to leave SPlat.
In a few years I'll probably replace my DAW and I may replace my DAW SW then. I've seen some real innovation in recording technology - tape to digital to home PC. Is something like that going to happen in the near future? Has there been any real innovation in DAW SW? Will there be any?
Does anyone else think that monthly updates has screwed with people? If Sonar was being released yearly would so many people (seemingly) need to switch so suddenly?
I, for one, don't feel like I've been screwed by Cakewalk. The price I paid for lifetime updates isn't any different than if I had been doing annual updates.
