I'm staying for the short-haul, maybe another year or two.  Actually, I don't need 90% of what SONAR does, so most any other DAW would work for me.  What I'm gonna miss is the aesthetic elegance of SONAR: the thing is beautiful.  It's a joy to look at, especially with the themes I downloaded.

I'm there as long as it works.

I also hope Cakewalk's YouTube channel and online documents stay available.

I still use 8.53 mostly.
So, I'll make sure I have all the current Splat files and maybe in 10 years or so, I'll "upgrade".

I'm sticking with sonar and watching all the cute pink bunnies hop around.  It hasn't been any waste of time or money over the last 23 yrs for me.

Of course (as I bask in my lack of DAW diversity) I have taken a look at other products in the last few days and I'm asking myself would I want another same workflow type DAW or another style and if I do get something else while sonar continues to work it would be something different but complementary to sonar.

Thanks to everyone and staying positive about Sonar. If they never do come back to life we will be this small band of outlaws, a cult following so to speak!
( sorry I don't get the bunny joke? I guess I better go to the coffee house and see what this means)

Sounds like many are asking themselves the same question, how can something so good come to such an end ?
Mismanagement and profit margins aside, as long as it breathes, it remains alive.

Been here since v9 for msdos. I'll be using it until i die unless ms breaks it. I'll feel more secure when they deliver the authorization patch.

I'll keep it on the computer for awhile...but just like Cool Edit Pro...when I switched to Cakewalk back in the 90's...it never got used again.  It is looking solid for switching to S1 and some PreSonus hardware controllers too.  After using the demo for awhile, it's just something new and exciting to me.  I LOVE SPlat...but once I get deeply committed to S1, I don't see using both.
I also like products that will evolve and at this point, Sonar will obviously not evolve anymore.  Does it need to?  Not really, but that's part of the fun of using software to ME.
I worked in the Sailboat sales arena for 30 years (and still do svc on my own now), and working on the NEW boats was a huge plus.  Yeah...old boats still work, but putting on new, state of the art electronics, seeing what manufacturers are doing new...  all that's exciting to me.  When my local marina/dealer stopped selling new boats, I quit and went to work on my own. Change is good.

Oh... I see the thread title is "who is staying with Sonar"...
...my tape recorders sat in my closet for 10 years...UNUSED, until I finally sold them.  Cool Edit Pro was the new kid on the block back then....and tape hiss was a hinder.
