I'm staying too!

i turned 66 on Thanksgiving. I'm reasonably sure Sonar 2017.10 will satisfy my needs well for as long as I'll need it.

My sadness is for the amazing group who have created this masterpiece... Yes, masterpiece! I again tinkered with S1 and PT and i would never be happy with them. I could work, but too much joy lost to the paradigms offered.

I will contnue to create with Sonar and keep the others for the rare times I've needed them.

This machine will remain my Sonar DAW!

I intend to stay with Sonar, but also use Studio One. I can't yet say how much I'll use one vs. the other, but the intent is to use both as long as is plausible. I am kind of thinking that Microsoft will eventually take the decision out of our hands.

After working a bit in MixCraft and SO3 today, I'm going out in the studio tomorrow;
SONAR is the one and only DAW on my StudioCat.
If and when I move on to Win 10, I'll replace SONAR, BUT only IF I have to.
If/when the forum goes down there are at least two alternate sites for support/friendship.
Did I misspell that?
Should it be fiendship in the Chez de Cafe?

( sorry I don't get the bunny joke? I guess I better go to the coffee house and see what this means)

It was a reference to this post above:

cakewalk has screwed all of us and if you think they care
pink rabbits do exist

and the picture of the pink rabbit. Nothing to do with the Coffee House. Everything to do with my medication.

Many of you have already seen the petition to make Microsoft rescue Cakewalk out of Gibson. If our haven't here is the linke:

https://ipetitions.com/petition/microsoft-please-rescue-cakewalk-and-sonar-out-of

After you sighed ipetitions.com shows a screen where they ask for money. This is not me, or Cakewalk asking for money. It is ipetitions.com that does that. but you are then done with the petition. it is so in the left corner.

Please sign and show that you care and that you want Microsoft to make Sonar into the same for Windows as Logic are for MAC, and Music Creator to be the same for Windows as Garage band is for IOS.

345 signatures already.

Over the initial shock:  I have gone through the five stages of grief -

1. Denial
2. Anger
3. Depression
4. Bargaining
5. Acceptance

It is what it is...  I like others was recording on Sonar last night and this morning.  It will play itself out - staying where I am at for now

I'm not a professional.....just a hobbyist, so I'm in no rush to use something else.  I've been essentially using nothing but Cakewalk/Sonar since the late 80s.  I'm probably only using about 10% of the capabilities of this program as is.

As long as I'll be able to continue to install and use the program if I have to replace any hardware, or want to build a new machine...I'll use it.   (At least until it either gets broken by something, or just gets really out of date)

That's basically where I'm at too.  I started with Sonar X1 Studio and followed the upgrade path to SPlat.  Sonar is the only DAW I've ever used to mix and master music.  I fall prey to advertising now and again though and decided Harrison Mixbus was a good idea:(

Recently I picked up a PreSonus Faderport and with help from this forum got it setup.  There's been a lot of buzz about Studio One, lots of tutorials, people switching from Pro Tools, not to mention the integration with those new 16 Channel FaderPorts and those Studio Live mixers, so I downloaded a trial version last month.  If I'm forced to another DAW it will probably be Studio One, but like you said, as long as SPlat works in its current state, it's more DAW than I'll ever need.

I was going to start another thread ,, but it's not a big deal,, but,, is there any chance the forum hosts could possibly slowly, carefully,, start moving non Sonar topics to the appropriate sub forums, Software I would think. :}

I feel sorry for anybody seeking help with Sonar right now. they will get buried quickly, and ya it's been fun and it was good this stuff was here, but it is getting tiresome for those of use who are staying with Sonar.

And before someone closes the doors here-- Thank you ever so much to all the hosts for your dedication to this forum.. It is one of the best run forums I belong to.
I remember when everyone was upset about the "hosts" and thought tyranny would rule. They were wrong,  it was and is a good system.
Because Sonar will run for a long time but this forum is probably doomed. I will miss it and hopefully we won't all get spread over a couple of new forums and collect in the same place again.

Staying until computer issues force the change. I'm looking to move to and SSD, and I have have new ram in Engand (arrived the same day as my morning flight out.) Once that is a installed an image of my computer should mean I have something stable to return to. Every year the list of pieces in the complete DAW become less and less. There are only things I fancy now, nothing I really want. After this Black Friday I feel my software base is where I want it.

Then when this all comes to an end, hopefully Studio One will have caught up, In a way that makes moving feel more acceptable.

I love my ProChannel Console. My Stepsequencer to AD2 Transform integration. the Melodyne integration (which S.One also has), especially since the tempo map integration was added, The new Midi Transform is amazing (I don't  get why more aren't singing about) and Ripple Editing.
