I have been using Cakewalk Software since Cakewalk for DOS in '94. I'm not rich, so I don't get to upgrade with every version, so (skipping the many versions before the name "Sonar" was used) I used Sonar XL, Sonar 6, and then Sonar X1. I finally jumped on board with the subscription-based Sonar Professional, which I LOVE.
I am not planning on switching, but I feel like I am in a precarious situation, as my subscription ran out a couple months ago, and I forgot to renew it. I would continue using Sonar for years to come, but I am worried that it will stop working, or I won't be able to reinstall it in the future. I really hate to revert to my copy of X1, it's very buggy and doesn't play very nice with Windows 10. So I feel like I need to have a backup plan, just in case. So yeah, shopping around, but holding out hope some other company will pick up Sonar. I bet most Sonar users are in this boat. With decades of work saved in Cakewalk format, converting them over to another DAW is a daunting process.
