I'm also worried about the forum going away and having no help! :(

If that happens, your help desk is over here.

Are they going to load the Scook A.I. into the forum, like this one?

Between 1992 and 2007 it is physically impossible for anyone to have spent more time on Cake/Sonar than i did.

I may have spent that time in theme editor making this tool bar. So I still need Sonar time to recoup some of that.

I'm a hobbyist. I plan on transitioning to Cubase over time, but it's not gonna happen overnight. It took forever to transition to WordPerfect from WordStar, and just as long to transition from WordPerfect to Word. It'll be the same with DAWs. I'll continue to use Sonar side by side with Cubase until such time that Sonar's usefulness is eclipsed, which will happen eventually. Needs change over time.

Look, none of us owes any loyalty to Sonar, Cakewalk, or Gibson... We are paying customers.  They owe loyalty to us.  Gibson has decided to breach that loyalty.  Every single Sonar owner should jump ship on principle alone.  Maybe not now, maybe not while Sonar still works, but eventually and forever.

Don't tell me what I should do.... It's not about loyalty. I'll continue to use Splat as long as I want, because I know it best, and I love the workflow. I'm not going to drop a bunch of money on another DAW to spite Gibson.

Every other DAW literally wanted to be like Sonar. Studio One? No, anyone who has gone in that direction will regret it.

Respectfully, this has not been my experience at all.  In fact, my workflow is much faster in Studio One and to this day, I can't get over how convenient and well thought out many of the features are.  I definitely do not regret it.  I love Sonar but honestly, I've barely opened it since I learned how S1 did all the things I did in Sonar.

It is much easier, quicker, involving much less frustration to get things done in Studio One3 than SONAR ever was. Over the last 3 years I have had zero regrets, and wouldn't go back for anything. (Especially now lol . . . )

I have been using Cakewalk Software since Cakewalk for DOS in '94.  I'm not rich, so I don't get to upgrade with every version, so (skipping the many versions before the name "Sonar" was used) I used Sonar XL, Sonar 6, and then Sonar X1.  I finally jumped on board with the subscription-based Sonar Professional, which I LOVE.

I am not planning on switching, but I feel like I am in a precarious situation, as my subscription ran out a couple months ago, and I forgot to renew it. I would continue using Sonar for years to come, but I am worried that it will stop working, or I won't be able to reinstall it in the future.  I really hate to revert to my copy of X1, it's very buggy and doesn't play very nice with Windows 10.  So I feel like I need to have a backup plan, just in case.  So yeah, shopping around, but holding out hope some other company will pick up Sonar.  I bet most Sonar users are in this boat.  With decades of work saved in Cakewalk format, converting them over to another DAW is a daunting process.

I am staying, no doubt about it. It's the only DAW I have ever known. I use it win 8.1x64.
I am keeping the faith that we will have a way to re authorize. I have to believe that.
I do have what was mentioned, valid thru ∞ Status: Owned. Not sure if that helps at this point but some say it does.

Sonar for me! 100%

I'd love to stay with SONAR, but I'm concerned now because I'm on the monthly payment plan and haven't paid for a full year yet. So the program automatically reverts to demo mode every month until it sees that I've paid. Have they said anything about whether the program will still work for people in my position? What will happen after 12 months of payments?
