It would be nice.
I've spent a few days with Studio One and Cubase and good grief, Sonar is streets ahead. Cubase feels a bit like Reaper; a massive Christmas tree over-laden with baubles as the code has been added to for decades. Studio One is sleeker, having had the benefit of a clean start, but is flawed by its original assumption that MIDI was of no use to their potential customer base.
Sonar in my view took a brave leap forward with X1, a much-needed innovative vault into modern GUI standards and work flows. A pity it had a tricky birth, but after it was polished and working right I believe Cakewalk stole a march on other DAWs but were hopeless at marketing it to jack up its user base to a viable - and deserved - level. After that they were chasing their tail.
Sadly, as each day goes by the selling value of the code goes down as more users move to other DAWs in advance of, and fear of, total collapse. I sincerely hope a sale, or better still a MBO), is underway and that the lawyers and accountants involved have been apprised of the urgency.
