Hello Sonar Fans,

How do you guys deal with REX loop transposition. I mean using RXP is great for drum loops but for guitar or bass loops things get complicated. Since a bass loop for example is in C when my song switches to D the bass loop stays in C.

I wish i could somehow turn the REX loop into an audio loop so I could simply copy the bass riff from measure to measure and use TRANSPOSE.

The only way I can work is to have one track per note each with an instance of RPX tuned accordingly but this is to time consuming.

ANy tips or pointers?

tricky really, as props own sampler is good at such things, and other things like kontakt

how about try using

http://vemberaudio.se/shortcircuit.php

and see how you get on, as it support REX / RX2, but as I use Kontakt I don't use it.

there's always the issue of the pitch / length of the slices changing as well. I use recycle and thats the only real way to edit recycle files, apart from bouncing the audio out again and doing the modifications yourself. Although not everything can be done in recycle (which I find a pity).

One easy method is to load up the Rex file in Dimension LE, then use your keyboard controller to transpose it over an octave.
Use the area two octaves below middle C. If you have Dimension Pro, there are more options than that available to you.

OK will give it a try. Thanks.

After a little more digging this is what I found

Yes indeed both bounce to track and the freeze options are available for RXP.
I also found that RXP can be played in LOOP mode meaning that the REX loop may be played, pitch shifted via playing my MIDI controller so yes REX can be used in SONAR very effectivly providing even more flexibility. Very happy, thanks to all for the inputs.

Excellent. :)

I know this thread is probably long dead, but . . . As Pierre says above, RXP can be put into LOOP mode and it does a rewlly beautiful job of transposition - no artifacts or aliasing even on long stretches. And that's fine for using it from a midi controller. But how about those of us that want to do that in a midi track? Yeah, I've read about freezing and extracting waves, etc. But then you lose RXP's wonderful transpose ability and are burdened with trying to find something that will do the job as smoothly (rare indeed, in my experience). It's hard to figure why this wasn't included in RXP; the ability is there in the interface, but you can't get at it from a midi track? Hmm.
