More crashes with X2a than with any version of Sonar that I've ever had. Some happen when I'm messing with buses but, not every time.
It also happens at other seemingly random times.
Kinda sad, Sonar 8.3.2 was super stable for me. NEVER, EVER, crashed!

Could be a problem with your computer. X2 uses more resources than 8.5. You should run a memory test and a full anti-virus scan.

Also, please post your computer specs and soundcard information.

Edit: Sorry for the previous response.

Brand new HP. Intel i5. Windows 7 64 bit. 8 gigs RAM. 2 hard drives (1 for programs, 1 for audio).
For what it's worth.... I have both Sonar 8.3.2 and X2a on this computer and 8.3.2 is still just solid as a rock. X2a.... not so much.
To be fair, the crashes don't happen all the time but, you never know when it's gonna go. Frustrating.
As far as "fix my computer", what the Hell does that mean? As far as I know, there's nothing wrong with my computer. If there were, why would 8.3.2 be so dependable when X2a is not?

Hi Rod, I've had to go back to X1 which is really frustrating. X2 has completely shaken my confidence. Too buggy and unpredictable on my system to have any faith in it. Waiting for x2b before giving it another chance. cheers

Rod - I also have gone back to X1 and am (STILL) waiting for X2b - the various graphical bugs were not something I could work with.

Quick update on my bug reporting fest from a few nights ago. Some of the results are in! Bug 1- I can select audio tracks in PRV - Response. Works as intended (??) Bug 2- bouncing a take does not remove/tidy up the empty take lane - Response. Works as expected Bug 3- pentagon does not appear as an audio fx anymore - Response - Works as expected Bug 4- graphical glitches - apparently I need to call support about this as its likely to be a system specific problem Pretty disappointed to be honest. Looks like I've wasted my time.

dorism and bajan blue,
Unfortunately, I went from 8.2.3 to X2 so, for me to go back, it's back to that. Which is absolutely stable for me but, I'm liking several of the new things in X2, just want it to stop crashing and become reliable.

Hi Rod, quite a jump to go back to 8.5. :-( The X series of Sonar has so much potential. it's just bugs and little things which detract from the experience. In the end though stability is king. I really think Cakewalk should be on a bug squashing release and forgetting about add ons until the core is solid.

I'm not questioning that you guys are having a problem with graphic glitches and crashes in X2a.  I do need to point out though that I'm not encountering these on either my desktop or my laptop.   I'm sure that you have heard from other users that they also are not encountering these issues.  My suspicion is that there may be some video drivers/hardware that X2 may have compatability problems with.

You were close to sharing what was common in your systems in the previous thread.  You may want to follow up with that to see where you have common configurations that may be the root of the problem

Hi - I may have missed an opportunity to assist with some of the unresolved issues by some of the posters to this thread, and I would like to see if there is anything I can do, or we in the forum can collectively do to help these folks get resolution to these issues.

Soooo:

@Bajan Blue - I did a quick search of the forum trying to find X2 threads you had started regarding your X2 issues, but there were lots of results to wade through.  Would you please consider either bumping an existing thread you had started previously, or post a new thread detailing your system specs and your X2 issues?  I would like a crack at trying to get some resolution for you, if possible.  I believe these were graphics problems, but perhaps there are other issues as well.    Thanks.

@dorism - same question - it appears you may have had multiple threads out there for your reported X2 issues with: Take Lanes, Pentagon, and graphics issues - bumping threads you already have out there for these issues would be the best choice, if you can find them.  I use Google search terms of site:cakewalk.com forum (without quotes) and add whatever other terms I want to look for, so an example would be: site:cakewalk.com forum robert_e_bone Kontakt, etc.... Thanks

Sorry - I did wade through a bit on the threads, and found this recent one: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2829418&mpage=1 - which talks about redrawing being intermittently glitchy.  I will look at this - I saw your specs listed in the thread, I will likely bump it to get it active again and see if there is anything I can offer on it.  Do you have additional threads for X2 issues?

@rodreb - I apologize for jumping in, I am trying to extricate the above issues from this thread so that they can get evaluated on their own and not mingled in with your thread issue - so that your thread does not  actually get hijacked.  I will also try to assist in this thread, if possible.
