Hello, I'm having a problem with comping vocal takes in Sonar X2. I have a project with about 20 tracks. I have 2 different vocal takes located on 2 different tracks. I'm trying to drag a clip from from one of the tracks to the track above which contains the other vocal take. Sonar X2 is not letting me move the clip to the track that I want to drag it to. It wants to move the clip to a track of it's own choice. Any ideas as to what's gong on here? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Tip: Expand take lanes on both tracks, and move clips from take lane to take lane.

Also: I think there is a bug in that sometimes extra take lanes are added instead of the clip going where you want it. This is usually solved (in my case) by collapsing and expanding the take lanes in both tracks, then retrying.

That didn't work. Hmmmm.... OK - Obsevation and Question:

I opened up another project file and was able to move clips freely from track to track. Then I went back to the original project file and I'm still not able to move clips around from track to track. 

Why am I able to move clips around in one project and not the others? What's preventing me from being able to simply move clips around from track to track in a certain project?

zwatrif, are the clips on the project locked?-(small padlock icon in upper left of clip).  If so, right clik on clip & uncheck lock clip position and or data.  That should free up the clip so it can be moved.

Seems like this problem is happening in one specific project. I'm able to move clips around in other projects. Maybe there's a setting I'm missing? 

I also have this issue sometimes. I think it's a bug.

I managed to figured it out even though this behavior still makes no sense to me. I had some additional recorded vocal takes (that wound up not being used in the song) that I had archived and also had them hidden from the track and console views. 

I un-hid these archived tracks so that I could see them in the track and console views. At this point I was able move clips to anywhere that I wanted to. 

I don't understand why X2 won't let me freely move clips to where I want to move them when there are archived/hidden tracks.....

Strange - I've had this happen with just one track recorded! It is really annoying lol.
