Hi

Built a new system. Since I only bought the download is the ridiculously slow extraction of the bin files my only option?
And it's always a thrill when you get an error message and have to abort because every file is corrupted. . This will be the 7th time I am extracting.

Hate to vent on my return here-but this is just plain stupid

The download files are self extracting rar files. You can use 7-Zip to extract the files as they would appear on the DVDs and then execute the setup.exe.

There has to be an exe, it should be in the first part of each rar package. Without a setup exe there is nothing to load and install the bin files.

I didn't get them all when I tried the first time. Now their is an exe. Definitely will save multiple copies of these puppies.

Thanks man-You saved me a bit of Sanity :-)

Hi Frank. Did you get a error when you tried to install? If so it could be because one or more of the DLed files are corrupted.

You should try to DL them again. Once you start the install the files will have been extracted to a temp directory.  I forget what its called but if you do find it you can copy those files to your own directory and they will be there after the install.

Hi John

Finally got it. The error keeps popping up on the sound center files. But I never use those anyway so I need to de select them next time. I have the install files saved now :-).

Good to hear from you!

Sounds like you are having d/l problems. The download instructions page http://www.cakewalk.com/s...tion_instructions.aspx has md5 hash values linked at the bottom of the page you can validate with a tool like WinMD5Free to insure you have good files. I always use Free Download Manager and never have a problem downloading CW files. Others recommend using Chrome or Firefox for the embedded download manager. FDM works with all browsers but I do not want to get into a tool war, whatever works for someone is the best solution for them.

At any rate, when you get the full set of files down and uncompressed, you will have all the files that are provided on the physical media.
