I'm not bailing on Sonar just yet, but everyday I use the piano roll and clip funtions a lot.  So basically I'm constantly taking the extra two clicks to activate clips in the inspector (right click plus another click to get rid of the dialog box).  And it's another two steps (start and stop) to get to the corect postion after opening the piano roll - because PR doesn't open to the correct spot.

It's wearing on me.  For my particular workflow these known but unfixed bugs are alot of extra work.  Not to mention inelegant.  For me, it still feels like I'm using beta software.

There's a few other bugs that drive me buggy, but the above two require semi constant extra steps.

I sure hope there's an X2b revision and I sure hope they fix these irritations.  Part of the problem is that I'm a bit OCD and OCD doesn't like constant nagging imperfections!

Just complaining.  I hope CW reads this.  I hope CW/Roland is still passionate about Sonar, but I'm not sure big corporations do passionate!

Ian, it's not just you. I raised bug reports about the fact you have to click on an object such as track inspector before you can do things - basic things like scrolling. The workflow in Sonar is getting generally speaking great which makes it more obvious when things don't just work. roll on x2b cheers

Have you tried 2 double clicks on a midi clip?  (So 4 clicks)

I found the 1st 2 clicks will open the PR but the next 2 (on the same midi clip) will pull the notation into view.

Not great but better?

Thanks moffdnb,

That does sound slightly quicker.  Still inelegant and still a workaround though.

If they don't fix it w/ X2b I'm looking at FL studio and Reaper.  I'm really irritated constantly working around...

Thanks dorism,

The workflow is OK.   I know some folks don't mess w/ clips much.  But I'm constantly tweaking clips which means my workflow is constantly BEING tweaked!

I hope they read this thread.

Peace,

Ian

We're due for something soon, but I can't predict what. I just hope it's fixes, fixes, and more fixes, not features, features, and more features. We need an iteration of fixes and addressing issues and dislikes and work to improve the klunky performance of X2a. What was added to X2a other than fixes, imo should be removed or re-worked to bring back the performance I saw in X2.

Thanks for making the post...

I want to believe that the more posts there are mentioning these facts, the more likelyhood that the team will place them into more importance than adding more plugins or the likes...

I'm very happy for those who want/use toucscreen tech, but tho some believe it's the wave of the future, I don't believe it will replace a more accurate/fast system... It's a welcome addition, not replacement just as the mouse isn't perfect for everything nor the keyboard... Voice (when truly working) will be welcome as well, but I can see that some things/times, the old mouse/kybd may be faster!

The constant soom/view changes necessary in the X versions have been driving me crazy (er?) and X2a really topped the cake on these issues... I spend more time adjusting my screen than I do actual editing... They fixed a few of the constant nags ( I can once again select and locate with a single click if I'm careful... ;-)) but have introduced a world of pain for many of us...

I truly hope they are busy making adjustments/changes to accommodate these issues and that they will surprise us as The Bakers of past have constantly done!

At the very least, what I'd like are better performance, if that's even humanly possible, by stripping out code we don't absolutely need (making it optional, for example), fixing the awful Take Lanes, and maybe bring us Dual monitor ability. No, we really don't have that yet. What we have today is a hack, not a real Dual-Monitor experience.

I am sticking with Sonar for now, but if I were to change, the big contenders would be Cubase and Studio One.

I hope you are filing bug reports officially on the CW support section.  CW may or may not be reading these forum posts.
