I'm gonna try something with Albion One.
Just got it in. I'm thinking it will be a nice in-between for Garritan's Instant Orchestra and GPO5 on one hand and EW Hollywood Orchestra on the other.

For me it's about inspiration. Only so many times I can start with a blank slate and try getting a track started with the same piano sound. Even if a new one is only slightly different (and even if I could have made the difference myself by tweaking a few knobs), having those new presets helps me get started.

If you're looking for rational "costification" you're going to be disappointed

No you misunderstand, we are plugin collectors. Were like those who collect classic cars and antique's of sorts. We don't even need a plugin to make 60 seconds of good music but it's so much fun filling up the FX bin with cool looking plugins that all do pretty much the same thing.  Just ask the plugin expert Bapu. He'll set you straight.

I'm not sure if this was to be humorous but it really hit home.  Some of my most productive stuff was using a Voyetra sound card, Yamaha XG50 midi player and a Casio keyboard before USB midi.  I started on Cakwalk Music Creator, then I move on to Sonar 2 XL, Gigastudio 2.5. After that so many VSTs, DAWs,pro audio cards, then it went downhill.

When I'm stuck I mess around with loops-them I'm still stuck.  I use notepad to write down chord progression, products to combine.  The problem with chord is I forget to write the voicing which can make a difference- I'm still stuck.  Then I go to these forums to offer my opinions  I'm still stuck.  I gotta lotta cool stuff though - I'm still stuck.

Nope that's free. Funny how I make more use of free stuff.

Did someone say free? I dunno if it is right but someone said when you get stuck look at the chords that work well together and in what order chart and create 4 / 8 / 16 measures of chords and write a melody over the top.

Oh and i love free.
