That was very rude Boogit and you should apologize to Craig! He is very very helpfull!

You are correct.
Craig, my apologies.

Thank you, but no apology is necessary. You quoted what I said accurately, and at the time, all indications were that what I said was also accurate. But unfortunately, sh*t happens.

OTOH there's this, so sometimes I get things right

Grow up, you are not the only one who lost out.
Lifetime updates was the same price as a years worth of updates.
We got 15 months.

You're assuming everyone bought the Lifetime plan the same day you did.

Okay.. 12 months. does that make a difference ?
A years worth of updates were the same price as Lifetime updates. No one lost money.
Cakewalk simply didn't hold up their end of the bargain.

Unless of course you can explain your theory ?
I'd love to hear it.

The way I see it, is that I got almost 3 years of updates for one payment of "Lifetime Splat" (@AudioDeluxe = $168.99).

I was still sitting on Sonar X3 Producer since upgrade in December 2014 (it was at end of development then).  So at the Platinum lifetime upgrade time in August 2016, I got all of the rolled up new features in Platinum released since 2015.  That was huge!!!

Then I got all remaining monthly Platinum updates until October 2017.  Not too bad, if you look at the big picture!!!

Of course, I am heartbroken that the product that I started out with 20 years ago, and has been with me for two decades, is no longer being supported and developed.

I had assumed that Cakewalk would be around for years to come... so I am sorry to see them go ... but no, I don't feel ripped off in the least!!!

I feel the same as you.
Im upset and confused about what happened but I don't feel ripped off either.

When I decided to order Sonar Pro in the summer of 2016, I had issues with the upgrade discount, so I tried to call.  NOTHING.  Their customer support was not even there.  I tried emailing, no response whatsoever.  Fortunately I managed to get the upgrade discount to be applied through the web, but I found that very disconcerting!  If I hadn't been a 20+ year user, I prob would have taken that as a sign not to do business with them.

You forget people like me who bought lifetime updates few months after buying another year of updates. And no, I didn't get the best discount for the lifetime pass either, I contacted them and they said what I was offered was best they could give, even there were some users getting way better deal for it.

But lesson learned, never pay more than one month in advance for anything in this world. You can't trust anyone, not even industry veterans like proven here. I've bought two lifetime licenses so far for sw, both let me down and I felt scammed on both occasions. I do have some sw that have given all upgrades for free so far but those haven't been marketed with free updates.

I bought lifetime updates on the very last day of the offer, 31st December last year, so I got less than a year, but more important than the money or one month I missed out on to complete a year, is the fact that Cakewalk has gone, the staff got the boot just before the holiday season, and Sonar is a dead DAW. That just makes me want to weep.

You don't need me to explain, it's proven by your own math skills 1 year does not equate to 15 months.
Read the posts by several others here as well.. Not everyone got a great deal at all..

Oh & btw there was also that May promo campaign selling upgrades.. I guess you think that was a great deal & no-one lost money on that as well.

So there's my theory you'd Love to hear, also known as fact.

You are not the only ones who lost money. But what are we going to do ? Beat a dead horse ?
Cry about how bad we got ripped off from the software company that just closed down ?

Ya, I guess I probably shouldn't have posted here.
My apology's.

To be honest, I just want the off line authorization for the software that's mine.
I could care less about the "I got ripped off" conversation.
I've got better things to do than moan and complain.

This thread isn't going to be further productive, so...
