I had a really messed-up Melodyne crashing situation and the advice from Sweetwater and Celemony was to ensure the buffer was set to 1024 samples in Preferences.
That;s fine, but here is what is bothering me about this:
1. I cut a lot of tracks with Meldoyne and an ASIO buffer of 256 without problems so I am suspicious when someone says the buffer is the issue.
2. 1024 is not even close to usable when tracking: the latency is so great the singer feels like he/she is using a slow slapback, 100% wet.
So, at this time I am tracking (recording) at 256 and then switching to 1024 for Melodyne work, but that does not seem like a normal way to work.
Thoughts?
