jb101 : "I like the layout of he current modules as they are, and have no problem seeing them. If you struggle to see them on a 30" and 2560 x 1600 pixels monitor, Mike, then I think it must be a pebkac error. Perhaps have an eye test. "

For what it's worth, I also use a 30" monitor at 2560 x 1600 and find the PC modules, especially the EQ, to be way too small. The words that are printed vertically are at the extreme limit of what I can decifer from a couple of feet away (not that I really need to read them). I'd prefer a much larger frequency graph.

The Maillard Reaction

Hi jb101,

I have vision issues, people in my family go blind.

Are there any other kind thoughts you'd like to share?

best regards,

Not to sound like a crank but I'd like to see some significant discounts for those of us who paid premium prices for Sonar. There isn't much reason for the Concrete Limiter to be as expensive as it is when we've paid substantial sums of money to get Pro Channel. The lack of a high quality limiter in the suite was a little disappointing. If you've given Cakewalk more than $500 in recent years seems they could let these things go for a little less. I'd pay $20-30 for the CL right now but as it is I think I'd be better of saving up and snagging Ozone. JMO. I do like the idea of a PC freq analyzer though. Good call.

I guess if I want a more detailed graph, I use a different EQ, perhaps in an PC FX chain.

I always thought of the quad curve as more like the EQ on a large format desk, which had no graph at all.  The little one was just a bonus.

I have nothing against a pop out grid, though.

Mike could have his pop out VSTs if he used The PC FX Chains, but as he didn't buy X2, and only wishes to make illinformed swipes at the X series, perhaps he wouldn't know that.
I am in agreement with you. I also was one of the first to ask for a pop out grid for the EQ when X1 first came out. So I stick by that idea.

I understand about Mike and his campaign to attack the X series.  Not that I understand why. Or shall I say to what end? CW is not going to junk the work they have done to please Mike. It is highly unlikely that Sonar will revert back to an 8.5 GUI. So I see his continuing diatribe on X1/X2 as pointless.

Further many like the direction CW has taken and it is confounding why one person finds it useful to make a negative remark about it whenever he can. I just don't get it.

It is also down right irritating when a post of his is made with those bashes.  Perhaps Mike will find the need to move on.

I fully understand where people are coming from about the remarks from Mike.

Agree... I think Mike knows I am kidding around, I hope so. It is good of you to be an advocate.

That is really unfair Mike. You should have made that clear when you posted about your wish to have a better GUI.  JB and myself could not know that you have that issue. Springing it on us now is to me a bit self serving.
Besides you know that JB is a very thoughtful and kind member. If he had known your situation I am sure he would not have made any comment.  Myself, I probably would have. I am not nice or kind.

I too would like to see a pop-out for the Quad-Curve EQ...with a spectrum analyser behind the curve (please).

Agree on the Pultec and reverb/delay.

I'm up for a spectrum analyser, Pultec type EQ, and delay. I also take the point about larger pop out graphics being a good idea. The convenience of having them follow in focus track far out weighs that minor drawback though (for me)

The PC and track following ability is what the VST standard should have had in the first place. A vast improvement on the existing VST concept IMHO and that's in its third incarnation.

+ 1 on the spectrum analyzer. They ought to have put that in the EQ.

How about a pop out larger EQ grid with a background  spectrum?

I would also like the tape saturation module.  Those of you who have never used one should get a demo if you can and run a finished master thru it to see what they can do to certain styles of music.  I grew up with analog and used 5 decks in my studio in Seattle.  Most good plug ins are a very affordable alternative to having to own a reel deck.

Nomad Factory has a module called Magnetic II for $130.00 It has settings for 5 different tape decks, 2 tape sizes, and 2 speeds.  However, since I still have 2 reel decks,  I run most of my songs and some spoken word recordings thru them to get the "sound".
