It's a plague. There is nothing particularly worse about the spam situation on this site than on other sites. Look at the comments in Gizmodo and other Gawker blogs. That site is HUGE, and yet there's at least one "my sister makes $7843 every night on the computer" posts in every comment thread. Sometimes they last quite a while before getting deleted.

I've learned to ignore them and they don't bother me (after all, advertising is all around us and you learn to tune it out), however I'm at a loss to understand why the "boffs" as it were can't just write algorithms to combat forum spam in the same way they combat viruses, i.e. with a constantly updated database of spam definitions. We can install ad-blocking plugins on our browsers, so why isn't there spam blocking software in forums and comment threads?

Make the forums read only unless you are a registered user. Would that not solve the problem?

OP:
Do your part and report it via the forum software and don't post in their threads and it will soon get moved. It seems to come in cycles.

many of us have asked for the forum (or parts of it) to be for registered Cakewalk users only but this suggestion has not been acted on. Conclusion is that it doesn't fit Cakewalk's model and that's that.

And also...

What's up with the really slow forum? I'm talking about the time it takes to load pages. Sometimes they don't.
There's always times in the past when things seem slow or the site is down. But I always figure it's just maintainance or something, ignore it and in an hour or so things go back to normal. But lately it's been consistently slow on multiple computers, mobile devices and Internet connections. Like they down graded the connection on Cakes/Roland side.

Anyone else notice this.

To me spam is like littering. But littering is a thoughtless act where spam is intentional.  It takes a person with little self respect to do either.

Does anyone ever buy anything that a spammer is selling? I know I sure don't. infact I avoid such products like the plague once I see it spammed.

Ok so it's like this, You go to jail for fraud, In Prison you have your laptop and free Wi Fi. Time on your hands you try and run as many scams as you can get away with, You can only hope that out there is 1 idiot who will take the bait.

Spam threads are not really in the way of enjoying this forum. You can spot them a mile away and you move on to stuff that catches your attention, like threads about spam!
