Wondering if I need to upgrade to Windows 7 to be able to use the basic Melodyne as plugin with Sonar X2 successfully.

Yea, Melodyne works in XP, 32bit. I've used it in that architecture. The version of sonar doesn't matter, as its a VST. All Sonar Versions are VST compatable.

I would add that X2 itself is not supported in XP. The X2a patch wont install on XP.

I have XP Pro 32 and X1e... it works like a champ here. Rock solid.

Well, that XP is not fully supported in X2 is disappointing.  Do you know if that is a policy, or something that Cakewalk will likely rectify?

If you choose to call "SONAR X1 Expanded" X1e there is. Otherwise the last update for X1 was d.

CW has been up front on this . Because X2 is written for touch and the X2a patch implements touch on Windows 8 CW has dropped all XP support. They don't support Vista either. Windows 7 and Windows 8 are supported.

Thanks, guys, for the informative responses. I guess I will try Melodyne with X1 Expanded while I am still using XP. (Unless anyone feels it would be better to use X2 with no updates.) Don

There's an X1e?

If you're referring to my post.... X1 essentials.

I have used Melodyne Plug-In, which became Melodyne Editor, after they sent me an update, in everything in my DAW. I've used it in MC4, MC5, and MC6 as well as X1 essentials with no problems.
