Hello Andrew,

I don't really understand why CW does not give any information about the future delivery of a X2b patch.
At least, CW could say if they consider that X2a is the "state of the art" for them, or if they think (like some customers, which can be wrong) that it needs a patch.

But, maybe i don't understand because i am french, and so far from Boston, just near the mediterranean sea ; but still a faithful sonar user since 2006...
Do not ignore me, please...

Really a no brainer IMO. I use the PC2a more than any plug I would say. I like it better than UAD's stock LA2A. The expander gate is great as is the channel comp which I sometimes use when I'm looking for a tad of transparent gain reduction. I too have the duende channel strip and find I'm using it less and less in the channels.

I'm not a fan of the stock tube saturator, if that bundle comes with the softube big knob saturator thingy, that's pretty cool too.

That package is a good deal. There's plenty of love here for the concrete limiter and CA2A but I like the gate better than any other I've used. It's sort of less adjustable than others but for whatever reason I get it sounding better and unnoticeable faster than any other gate I've used. I prefer the slow opening most of the time but fast has uses too.

I'm thinking X3 is going to be X2B with all the Pro Channel stuff will be bundled in to make it seem like X3 is an upgrade.

I don't want to buy stuff I'm not going to use twice.

best regards,
mike

You'd be incorrect. This won't appear in a future upgrade.

mcq has never let fact get in the way before, I'm sure he won't now..

You mean you have them already or is it that you don't have them? If you don't have them why comment in a speculative way about what may happen some time from now? If you do have them what do you like about them and what do not like about them?

Do you have X2?

No. X2 is the first Cakewalk upgrade I decided not to purchase.

I un-installed SONAR X1A Extended last year and resumed using SONAR 8.5.3 Classic Edition.

I bought some of the PC modules. I tried some of them and some that I purchased I never bothered downloading.

I couldn't get excited when Cakewalk figured out to publish a VST alternative to it's recent PC offering. It seemed a little too little, a couple years too late.

I guess that means the Pro Channel stuff just isn't worth $149 for me.

I'll eventually buy an upgrade to Xsomething+, but I'm waiting until the upgrade is actually worth the $75 offer Cakewalk has been emailing lately.

I figure I'll eventually get fully up to date for one convenient price. I'm hoping that when it happens that it seems like an upgrade rather than what "upgrading" felt like last time.

I've been demoing Exponential Audio's Phoenix Reverb and R2. I'm going to buy them this week. They only cost $449 for the pair, they'll work in all my DAWs and they seem like a bargain to me.

After experiencing the disappointment of the SONAR X1+ debacle I've begun to focus on good value and there are so many great choices these days that it's hard for me to take the Pro Channel concept seriously.

When Cakewalk finally bundles the Pro Channel modules with SONAR I'll probably take a look at all those tiny little GUIS and hear how they compare to any of the stuff I'm already using.

Tomorrow is May 15th. I am thinking it will be interesting to read about what happened last year and compare the facts to speculations voiced over the past couple years.

best regards,
mike

I use my Pro Channel plugins on pretty much every recording.

I only have one paid plug in that isn't sold by Cakewalk (although I've upgraded the Overloud plugs).

I find the PC Plugins to be efficient and to sound good.

I couldn't possible say if it's worth the money to you. It depends on how much money you have in your budget and what else you own.

I can say I use those plugins quite a lot.
