I'm starting to get a little worried that there might not be one.

I think there is so much work to do, so they let it on X3....

Remember the yearly update cycle was changed with x1. It took 2 years before x2 was released. In the mean time they added the expanded version that is now included with x2. If they remain on that schedule there is plenty of time to release x2b and possibly x2c who knows but the CW.

Perhaps an X2.5?
I've always said that they should change from the yearly updates to every 2 years so that it would give them time to put out a more reliable product.
Didn't seem to work that way.

I'm worried that when X2B comes out it's not going to have the custom color options that SONAR 8.5.3 Classic Edition came with.

I'm not willing to down grade.

+1 for 2 yearly releases if it means a better implemented product. Not a big fan of the recent dramas particularly with respect to the lack of hardware integration ala the V-Studio...what a nightmare...but surely they have crossed the big bridge now with the release of the X series...hoping so anyway.

Cheers.

considerig the high number of smaller and larger problems that we all have to cope with whenever a major release of the X series comes our way i think we deserve at least another 2-3 free bug-fix upgrades before cake can charge us for some 'major' release (which X2 never was, IMHO)

we need the best possible version (that keeps installing and running in parallel) before they can ask us to jump into the next upgrade adventure

If I were to hope correctly, I would say that Cakewalk has taken my advice and others like mine and holding off on X2b until they feel they can really address many more issues, gripes, concerns, bugs, and feature requests in hopes not to go past X1b. That's what i want to think, and I hope they feel the same way. I can only imagine the fallout of X2b if they simply forego it it and move directly X3 (and if X3 it doesn't rock), or if X2b is released and almost none or few of the things I mentioned above weren't really addressed, aside from a few small bugs and added new features (historically my perception).

I'm personally not worried about X2b (yet), but I would like to see an announcement if X2b is in the works. They'd not give up too much info by that notion alone, and would calm a lot of us down for a bit.

Be warned, though that X1d was delayed a few times. Let that be a compliment to their QA staff.

Free updates does not generate any revenue income.  Paid upgrades do......

I'm hoping that the lack of a midterm release indicates increased scope for the 2013 Fall Release.

I'm hoping for cool touch features.

I'd love it if Track View could be floated so I could flip it between screens using Screen Sets.

And the make my song not suck button; That would be a nice addition.
