Hi, I hope someone could help with this problem.

In the past I was able to run Sonar X1 Producer, with my EMU-0202 sound interface with no problems at all on my HP laptop. I have since upgraded my Laptop to a Dell Inspiron and have also upgraded to Sonar X2.

Upon installing X2 on my new laptop and attempting to record, via the EMU-0202 interface, the program froze and when I tried to click somewhere, or use ctrl+alt+delete and task manager, the laptop crashed and restarted.

However; I don't have this problem when I'm not using the Interface on Sonar, or infact using the interface with another program (Audacity for instance).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

James.

Which drivers are you using in SONAR, also which OS are you using?

I'm running on 64 bit Windows 7.

And the drivers I'm using are "Playback Timing Master : ASIO E-MU 0202 | USB Analog Out" & "Record Timing Master: ASIO E-MU 0202 | USB Analog IN A"

If that's correct?

Crashes are generally from driver issues..... so be sure to have the most recent versions..... as a starting point.

If it's a Dell (believe me, I speak from experience... look at my specs) it came LOADED with extras/freebies that launch in the background without you asking. They all take up space and CPU time and some have no qualms about trying to butt in right in the middle of a recording session... unless you tell them not to. And, they're all worse when connected to the Internet.  Try to find out what's launching at startup and disable anything you don't need.  Also, pull the plug on the Internet and temporarily turn off "real time scanning" (AFTER you've disconnected from the Internet) for any anti-virus programs (if it's Dell, it's probably McAfee).  Any of this, plus the previously mentioned drivers, could be causing your problem.

Best,
Rob
