I happened to get this in an email a couple of minutes ago, and immediately thought of the folks here that struggle with the current shape of Staff View for composing.

I hope I didn't offend anyone with the post here - sorry if I did,

Bob, this is for the upgrade. It's 600$ otherwise.

Or if you own a competitor's product, but Sonar isn't one of them (no surprise).

Although MuseScore is free and does a nice job, I would strongly recommend Notion Software http://www.notionmusic.com/. It's $99 or less and is incredible! I've used several notation programs in the past, going all the way back to Deluxe Music on the Amiga (remember that one) and find it very powerful and economical.

I like Notion as well and it supports rewire 32 and 64 bit. What is does not do is support sample rates other than 44.1.

Hi, Paul.  I am not sure that is correct.

The Finale sale IS for upgrading from certain products, BUT one of those products that qualifies it is a FREE product from Finale, so to the best of my knowledge one could download the FREE Finale NotePad software today, and qualify for the update to get Finale for the $99 sale price, which expires TODAY.

Here is the link from Finale, showing that you can download Finale Notepad 2012 for free:

http://www.finalemusic.com/products/finale-notepad/

The email I received from Finale gave me a Promo Code to enter 'Finale12' and EXPLICITLY indicated that until midnight tonight as a Notepad 2012 owner (of the free Notepad 2012), I was eligible to upgrade to Finale 2012 at the $99 'Trade Up' price.

Here is the text from the email, on the above point:

[id="yui_3_7_2_1_1368360963260_2169"]OWN FINALE FOR $99.95
3 DAY SALE —
[id="yui_3_7_2_1_1368360963260_2165"]
Offer expires at Midnight CST
Sunday, May 12th, 2013
[id="yui_3_7_2_1_1368360963260_2132"]This exclusive email offer is only available to NotePad customers.

For a limited time, owners of Finale NotePad can trade up to Finale 2012, for just $99.95.

All the music you are comfortable creating in NotePad can be created in Finale — Finale just offers more options and flexibility.

Please review the above to make sure, but to the best of my knowledge, this deal IS available, I have it sitting in my shopping cart.

IF I can get one of my buddies or the ex to give me $99 to make this purchase today, I will indeed do so, and will post back IMMEDIATELY if it truly does let me do the deal for the $99 - it's shopping cart is honoring the upgrade deal, I just have to make sure it will let me install it after making the purchase.  If it doesn't I should have a reasonable discussion point with Finale, based on the text of the email they sent me about the deal, but if it DOES all work, I am hoping that some of you guys struggling with the Sonar Staff View's current condition can benefit from it.

Bob, it seems like a strange situation but if it goes through, it's a heck of a deal.

My household is currently without any incoming funds so I'm going to have to pass, but otherwise I'd buy this in an instant.

Well, I couldn't come up with the money - my medical prescriptions jumped from $15 a month last year to now almost $250 a month this year, so I couldn't get it, but I posted it for anyone else who could, and I am very happy someone was able to take advantage of it.

That's AWESOME news,

The sale price is also available for competitive products and Notion is one of the listed item - in case the free Finale Notepad upgrade path didn't work for you

Didn't seems to work for me - I did registered my Notepad, but on the same day.
