Fun! Old timey vibe, at least I think so. I pictured a '50's doo-wop more than indie Americana, whatever that is . . .
My guess is, 99% of listeners would recommend dropping the four bars (four?) of just drums at the top.
I'd just start the synth line played once, then boom! vocal time!
speaking of the vocal, it's pretty decent, but to thicken it just a bit, you could resing it, compress a lot, then add it in at a lower volume than your lead. Just an idea for you .. .
and, harmonies, please! some "shoo be doo wap" or even some nice sustained "ooooohs" would fill the end of the phrases, and sure would mix nice with your excellent ride cymbals . . .
that psychedelic guitar stuck out a bit loud . . .
