  • Several Versions Of Sonar and Sonar Producer and Recorded Audio Is Offset

Hello all. I've been using Cakewalk and Cakewalk Sonar for over 15 years now. Over that course I have had several computers and the most current is incredibly robust including a UAD 2 (Universal Audio) Quad card to handle most of my plugin processing.

Nonetheless I seem to continue to have the same issue whereby once I record audio tracks, every single track is off about a 16th note late (to the right or further in time then we recorded it). The offset is always consistent too.

We just nudge them over the same amount and all is fine.

Considering the HUGE massive upgrade in my system and in the interest of efficiency I need to figure it out. The processors are fine, the RAM is fine - nothing is being taxed too hard and barely at all.

it must be something very obvious.

Latency is set to the default from loading the software and doesnt seem to be a problem that would require any modifications.

Any obvious ideas?
Thanks
Rich

I'm omitting the system info and software version since it has happened to all configurations

You might want to read this thread starting here http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2745971 about manually adjusting the latency reported by your interface.

Hi. Thanks - I will definitely look through the full thread and hope to find some good insight. I did however try a series of configuration changes through research, trial and error, the manual, and some books as well as this awesome forum. It just doesnt seem to point to that but I couldnt imagine what else could be the issue.

While awaiting additional responses I will give it a shot though. Thanks again! Rich

IIRC the default ASIO latency is 50 ms, which is far too much. If that is what you're using, you need to lower it below 10 ms.

Are you using a Audio interface  or on board sound card?

Personally I have never had to adjust anything to do with the latency, Sonar and the Drivers for your interface seems to get this right.  I've used dozens of computers and 3 different ASIO / USB  interfaces. But the times I have had timing issues were all related to trying to use a Sound Blaster card. That thing was always off and by random amounts too.
