good morning, I need to send tracks via email to someone who's using pro tools. when I was running SONAR 6 I was able to do this however with X-2 I can't seem to figure it out. Scotts book has a detailed description on how to save and send files to someone using a MAC/ Pro Tools but again i'm missing something. does anyone else have to hear all kinds of grief from someone who uses Pro-Tools about the attributes of P/T compared to SONAR? you know.."if only you were running P/T your life would be wonderful" yada yada yada?? i'm sick of hearing it. when i'm in his studio I really don't see what the difference is. except for different plug-in names it's the same thing.  mac people are quite annoying . so if anyone has any ideas I will appreciate it. 

Export the audio files as .OMF format should do the trick.
 
Keep in mind that none of the plugs will be exported and if you want that 'effect' from a plug, you will have to bounce it first.

Simply export them as waves.   Come & Go(2012) on my soundclick page has the vocal track recorded in PT and sent to me as a wave.

Use drop box or some other large file server..... waves are generally too big to attach to email

So do you simply Export each track to wave or do you bounce each track (Bounce to clips) first and then Export each to wave files?

Export only no need to bounce first. Of course, if you bounce (or freeze) the track you could drag and drop the wav(s) directly from the project.

Export in broadcast wave format, which will timestamp the file so if a part starts somewhere other than the start it will load into a timeline at it's proper place. 

As said above, if you've got effects you'll have to decide whether to export them wet or turn off the fx bins before exporting. 

go to export with session opened, click on the right drop down menu and choose raw tracks. in your browser make a new folder and call it wave files or what ever. click export. now you have a folder with wave files that can be transfered into any DAW!!!!!!  

As Dude24man suggests, you can do that export, but might want to do it in 2 separate passes.  IE - Stereo tracks in one pass and Mono tracks in the next.

Wave files plug into any DAW, so you can collaborate with anyone that has a DAW.  Many times I don't even ask what the person on the other end of the PC is recording, or mixing with. 

when I send or receive tracks I send the raw, un-effected wave, and I ask for the same. 

This way, the track is the raw basic track that was recorded. I, or the other studio, then have the option to massage the track(s) as is needed for the song project, without having to work with (for example) a reverb that is too strong, or an overly compressed track.

Even though a track may not sound the best in raw wave form its always the best way to send them.... unless the other party specifically says you can fx the tracks.  One example might be to fix a vocal track with melodyne if the other studio doesn't have ME.
