I feel we would all be happier if these forums were restricted to people that buy Cakewalk products. Spammers and lunitards need not apply. What do you think?

I agree. Like Steinberg forums.

Don't know what a lunitard is though.

Might be a good idea to reset the forum somehow, start fresh, registered users only.

Would you support that the forums be restricted so that only registered owners of Cakewalk software can post? Then non-registered users / prospective customers could view the forums, which I think would be helpful for Cakewalk.

Reset the forum?

Does that include post count?

+1 : better forum control.

+1 : to open up for non-registered users as well.

I've been to Presonus forum, for example, and asked some questions to decide my purchase decision which is helpful.

At one of the Blender forum, new users must post some friendly posts (equivalent to Song / CH I guess), before they are allowed for regular postings, to prevent spammers.

100% in agreement on this and remove membership type it just encourages people to post  to keep their status.

This is just a thought:

Would it make sense to have a registered users only portion of the forum for posting, and have another parallel forum where prospective users could post questions regarding specific aspects of Cakewalk products prior to purchase?

At the same time, other than the occasional true spam, such as the idiot posts for fake passports and window frames and such, most of the truly obnoxious posts are from past (and some current) owners and users of the products.  I guess the Cakewalk admins would have the best sense of overall spammage and the like from non-users - I am not sure it is a large enough issue to warrant messing with the forum, which already has its quirks and foibles.

And, I think a lunitard is a one-piece full body suit leotard (not really, but quite the mental picture there).

I would personally hope that every single available resource at Cakewalk can remain focused on the next delivered software, whatever it is called, so that it can be as battle-tested as possible for us.  Maybe after that they could think about doing something with the forum (or staff view enhancements, or step sequencer non-quarter meter bases, etc...)

:)

tbh it's not a lot to do with how the layout of the forum is... more the forum software itself, it's awful and should be replaced.

propellerheads, you have to log in *BUT* you can go on there as a normal person, just not post in  the user area of product owners.  It shows who owns what also.

even the steiny forum has faults.. signing up for it .. it wouldn't let me even though I have a valid / shop bought version.
