Don't know what a lunitard is though.

Nor me, but I certainly know what a UNITARD is

I was really frustrated by the Steinberg forum that required I be a registered user. They also required the dongle if memory serves. Now, if the Dongle means you can install on Linux I'd think it was cool.

I prefer groups that are open and accepting. I recognize not wanting to waste time with people who don't really care. I have invested a lot of time trying to understand people's concerns and offer sincere help.

And I love the open community. I get a lot out of being connected to this forum. I'm not sure how much we would gain by closing down our forum.

You could simply have a 'verified/registered user' status that goes alongside your 'gold member' status or whatever you are.

But as was mentioned, it all depends on the forum software and how flexible it is.

I like the idea of having a registered users part of the forum this way users who are demoing sonar can still ask questions in certain parts of the forum.
I would also feel better knowing im helping a user who has actually purchased the product and not borrowing it from a friend or downloading it illegally.

Hey how 'bout we let everyone in,  but registered Walkers (as in Cakewalkers) are clearly marked.

That way the trolls will be obvious.

And we will still be able to help honest people just asking questions.

Jimbo88 +1 - if the forum software could do that and if Cakewalk staff was willing / able to make that mark.

I've read that Presonus will be changing their rules to requiring owning a copy of Studio One to post soon.

But this idea by 'Jimbo 88' seems best to me.

It touches all the bases.

+1 to that

this forum is still also a marketing tool for cake, so pre-purchase questions from serious people need to be allowed, especially in these days of DAW wars where companies try to get people change DAW software ... nothing against that really ...

and it'd sure be helpful to know if the OP is a registered user or not

OK the spam is annoying, but its hardly reached epidemic proportions like some forums. One way it could be handled is the first "n" posts of a new member are moderated before they appear on the forum. Is this more, or less work for the mods than cleaning up afterwards?

Trolling is another issue.

On balance I like the rather free and easy atmosphere here and can put up with the occasional spam or godparticle.
