Ah, I have an app for that LOL. Get it free from the Windows 8 app store. You can be sure it wont infect your computer. Its called Format Converter. But you will need Windows 8 to get it and use it.

Now tell me there is no reason to have Windows 8.

Speaking of apps, do you realize how much you're giving away when you download an iOS or Android app? Look closely at the terms you're agreeing to. You're granting them the right to gather your name, telephone number, email address, physical location, an inventory of other software you have on your phone, plus any other information that might be contained in the phone's file system, and to sell that information to anyone willing to pay for it.

How many of us would download a program onto our computers if those were the terms?

You don't have to grant them those privileges. Although I don't know what Apple does. On the other hand Google has a penchant for data mining.

After some more digging, i found mixidj hijacked IE and GoogleChrome, although i wasnt on them at the time. Just spent a couple more hours resetting all of my browser settings for each and running some malware scans/removals (more freeware...). Prior to this, PC Cleaner was still detecting malware, it isnt any longer. I guess that's a good thing.

I sent you a PM reply - all should be well, based on your PM response to me a little bit ago.

There's a bill for that.

Anyone care to guess how much chance this has of passing the House?

You don't have to grant them those privileges.

Unfortunately, you do if you want the app. Try downloading IKM's fabulous iRig app and refuse to give them those permissions.

You can circumvent it by putting your phone into airplane mode whenever you run the app, but a) that's not always practical, and b) under iOS and Android, apps don't close until you go into the task manager and manually close them.
