I'm not sure if you can do it. But a way around it is to use input echo, and make sure you're not using 'simple instruments tracks.' If you click the input echo button on the midi tracks of each of the synths you want to hear, they'll all play at once. If you arm each track for recording, when you record you'll record the same thing to each track that was armed.

Another way is to just copy the orignal midi file to each track that you want it on.

There might be a way to do it that i don't know about, but if you have Kore 2 (and maybe even the free Kore 2 Player), then you could use that as a host (still inside X1) and do it that way. Let me know if you want more details and i'll run you through the set up for doing what you want to do with Kore 2.

Check this tip out - easy and works great. It's from Sonar 8.xx but the technique is the same.

Thanks for your help(s) . I am looking for a way to trigger 2  soft synths from one midi clip , rather than trigger from a controller in real time . i can use the above techniques while live  play or probably use  copied clips and use in two tracks  ( make them linked for easier arranging later on ) . however this just doubles the number of my tracks ( i have lots of midi clip based tracks in my project ) but seems I have no choice at this time . Hopefully  cakewalk addresses this in future  updates. I also wanted to  split a midi clip at middle c and trigger 2 soft synths - something like a keyboard split (  but comming from a midi clip and not from a live controller ) - guess this is not possible in Sonar yet  . Surprising , because Sonar has some otherwise good midi editing features . thanks again . ( ps   am not using using  kore at this time ) .

thanks for the kore tip/idea . i do have fm8 and hypersonic, both of which allow multiple  instruments from inside them which can trigger from one midi clip .

keyboard  split workaround I am currently doing -
use drum maps to split notes ( however different  midi efx to different splits cannot  be applied ? )

I thought that Sonar could do this but I can't find a way without duplicating MIDI tracks. Seems like a  feature I'd use and could cut down on tracks when layering.

This is a really old thread note that LoopBe1 is a 64 bit capable WDM driver now.

Unfortunately SONAR can't yet trigger 2 instruments from one MIDI track.

I'm 64 bit AISO - out of luck?

Why?

LoopBe1 is a 64 bit WDM compliant midi driver a fact I only mention as the other 2 VMC's B Rock mentions are still 32 bit only, it gives your system another (virtual) midi port to route through thats all.

It's as separate from your audio as your keyboard is.

Sure it's a 3rd party solution but what are most plug-ins, or even your current input midi port?

I use this method all the time, it addresses the OP's requirements fully and more besides and it becomes available to any midi capable app. via the system.

It also works like a charm.
