Can I quantize the start time on midi clips?
This is the situation;
I have a song with a drum track which I've created through dragging and dropping  Superior Drummer MIDI clips. I've decided to re-record the tune at a slightly different tempo. So I delete all the unwanted audio tracks  and change the song tempo.  At this point the MIDI drum track becomes out of sync with the new tempo, due to the MIDI clips start timing becomes shifted slightly from beat 1 of each bar. The amount of shift increasing with the bar number, and probably directly related to the amount of tempo change.

I suspect that I could have avoided this situation by locking all of the clips position, prior to changing tempo.
However I'd like to know if its possible to correct this in a less tedious manner than clicking on every clip and changing it's start time manually back to where it should be?

Cheers, thanks
A.

Groove Clip Looping each MIDI "block" should solve your problem.

Well, that's another way of fixing it, but not any easier than manually correcting the start times....

I wonder if this is a bug or a feature?
Does anyone else see this happening?
 If you have a bunch of short 1 or 2 bar  MIDI clips in a track aligned to the bars do they go out of sync if you change the tempo of the project?
This doesn't seem right to me.
At least we should have the option in the quantize menu to quantize start times on MIDI clips.

Not a fix, but a way to preclude it from happening would be to select all the clips in the track, then bounce to clips, then if neccessary either drag the edge of the clip to the beginning so it start at 0, or lock it...

Select the clip(s). Press Shift+I to open the Clip Properties in the Inspector. Make sure the Time Base parameter is set to Musical. You can select the all clips at the same time and change them all at once.

I always pondered what the heck the musical option was for?? I figured ,, well ya,, it's all musical?? If I don't select it will it become something other than musical??? Or is this another one of those random timing thingys.
