Just switch to Cubase 7 64 like I did.  I drop back here once in a while to see if by slim chance the bakers have baked a cake that won't fall in the middle . I see they still want more and more money to make a functional stable DAW. They have long since got my last penny. Well I better get back to recording . I  feel sorry for you blind believers.  I actually have money now to buy more toys as I am not burning it up in the bakers ovens anymore. Cheers  I hope you guys stop feeding this DAW slot machine too so it goes away and stops sucking peoples money for nothing but  the same old problems  with a few added features. Check all the other forums , none of them are filled wiith as many issues and unhappy people as this one. As for the cakewalk lemmings, seek professional help.    <message edited by anniedog on 0 mins. ago>
Sorry someone peed in your corn flakes.  Glad you found something that works for you nonetheless, despite your being a troll.

Sonar seems to work for a great many folks - and lots of times those with crashes end up solving them.

Please go back under your bridge.

To the original poster - is it possible you are plugged into a USB 3 port with a USB 2 interface?  If so, wacky things can happen, that include crashing systems.

Just a thought,

Thanks for all the responses. Hadn't checked back since fixing this - too busy recording. The problem was on launch of Sonar. Clearly, for some reason when launching without admin privileges it was blowing up when populating the list of asio drivers. I would never have found this if a serious uninstall and reinstall hadn't defaulted it back to a wdm driver. As soon as I switched to asio, it blew up revealing the issue. Definitely not a RAM issue as the ram is all new. USB was also not an issue as I'm actually using a firewire interface. Thanks again, Greg
