Thanks Frostysnake: I have tried changing paths etc
I am running as an administrator John, but will have another (doubtless head-desking) look

BUMP (perhaps I'd have been better off titling this "Why Sonar suckz and Protools rockz")

Try this:

Outside of Sonar, navigate in Windows Explorer to the folder containing the project templates.

Once there, click once up in the navigation bar to highlight the path and copy it.

Now, go into Sonar Preferences File Locations and paste this path into the place for project templates.

Now give it a shot.  (All the above does is remove any small typo you might have had).

If the above does not work, try this:

Open Sonar again, and close the Quick Start dialog box.

Now, go to File>Open, and navigate to the folder where all your project templates are.

If you see your project templates here, then that means they were saved with the CWP extension, rather than the CWT extension.

Thanks Bob.

I've tried both parts of this workaround just now, part one made no difference: the file path was right and/or is the same.

Re-navigating but they've come up as saved with the .cwt extension, there's just one "Autosave" copy of the Normal template saved under the .cwp filename.

Yet somehow just the Normal.cwt file shows up in the Open New Project box, not the others (as described initially).

Thanks for your help anyway,

This may be a silly question, but is it possible you added the CWT extension in the file name but had CWP specified as the file type?

Just wondering if you ended up with something like templatename.cwt.cwp - if Windows is hiding the extensions from display this would appear as templatename.cwt, but would actually still have the CWP extension.

Just wondering -I really have no other ideas on this - sorry,

I will try this, but I'm pretty sure everything is saved correctly

I was grasping there - but I have never ever had issue with files in an open dialog box window.

The thing is, Sonar uses the standard Windows Open file dialog box call - this is actually performed by Windows through the call from Sonar, so it really makes no sense.

If you do check the names, right-click on one of the templates and click on properties.

Is there any way to send me a couple ose templates in an email?

I will momentarily send you my private email address in a private message, so you can attach them to an emil to that address.  Maybe I can see something there.

Well, I tried to send you a PM and it said you do not or choose not to accept private messages.

(email address removed after serving its purpose)
