  • Insert Time Measures - audio clips ignored

This is the first time I've tried inserting time measures since upgrading to X2 and it wasn't totally successful.  Midi clips and markers all moved along, as intended, but audio clips all remained in their original positions.

2 things spring to mind:

  1. Are any of the audio clips locked?
  2. Were they selected prior to inserting measures? I always hit ctrl + a before doing work of this nature (select All)

The clips are not locked.  I'm wondering if they are timestamped through.  They were stems exported from Ableton Live.

I always hit Ctrl+A too (or maybe Ctrl+Shift+A).

Try this (an alternative approach).

1. Jot down where you want to insert the measures. Let's say it's at measure 41 and you want to insert 8 measures there.

2. Select All (control A)

3. Under the Edit menu choose Select By Time

4. Put in start time of 41 1

5. Put in end time way later, like 150 1

6. Cut Special (control alt x). Choose to include the markers if you have any.

7. Paste special (control alt v). Paste starting at 49 1.  Choose to include markers if you have any.

That will also insert the 8 measures, and eliminate your audio clip issue.

Thanks, but I hope that I don't need to resort to this.  I just nudged the audio clips along.  I still need to find out whether the problem occurs in other projects.

I've just tried inserting time measures in another project and worked properly this time.  I guess it must be something to do with the audio clips themselves.

I don't know if this is related, but I have an issue with deleting rather than inserting.  I mention it here in case the underlying problem is related:

I find that some of the audio clips get ignored even though I have selected everything and none of the clips are locked.

In that case Kev, why not try bouncing each track to clip in the project that's misbehaving & see what happens

I just tried bouncing one clip to see whether it moves while the others don't when inserting a measure.  But this time they all moved, i.e. Insert Time Measures worked perfectly.  Go figure!
