  • Help beyond the worthless search feature here...bitbridge hanging on close

Search on this forum is as worthless as well fill in the blank...I've done multiple searches looking for threads and the answer is usally nothing or at best nothing releavant.

My problem is I am getting several instances of BitBridge*32 in task manager (Win7/64 bit) and everytime I go to save a project or close Sonar it freezes up tirelessly cycling to close the program...I have sent error reports but so far I cannot find a solution....

Anyone with a pointer to a thread or solution will be my BFF (just for today though) as the bakers forum is all flour no cake.

thanks in advance.

Yes, I have this same issue but not sure what is causing it... I have been making attempts to transition my plugs to be all x64 so this doesn't happen but I have a few plugs that are still 32 bit.

I have seen a couple of recommendations:
Set BitBridge to Run As Administrator and
Run BitBridge in XP Compatibility Mode

Thanks scook, go to the cookie jar and pick out your prize, I will try these options...the thing I am wondering about to, jkleban is this happens on tracks that I believe i have no plug-ins installed...so perhaps it is deeper than simply plug-in/OS compatibility...I dunno...its not a game closer for me, but it is a frustration worthy of a repair...

By the way how does one go about running bitbridge as admin? It seems to load as its own boss if I am paying attention...

Bitbridge is located in "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities". Right click on the Bitbridge.exe, click the Compatibility tab. That is where the "Compatibility mode" and "Privilege Level" settings reside.

bob, system specs?
it would help a bit more.

sometimes we might see something that pops out when looking at specs/soundcard interface.
then you problems solved, its like trying to read brail with mittens not knowing a thing about your set up.

Sonar X2a (64) on Win7/64 8gigs Ram, DuoCore Athlon 6000+ SP1 (Ultimate)...Lynx Aurora 16/Audio Edirol FA66 ASIO Drivers /midi=BCF2000/Ipad as control surfaces...

I saw somewhere that sometimes legacy midi devices might cause closing hangs...but I'm pretty sure my drivers are all up to date...I'll double check.

UAD1 pcie but I am not using it much and have the older drivers here working...I don't think I've used it in months.

By the way you should be running Sonar as admin as well. That way any child process will also be run as admin. I only had that problem a few times when running 8 and 8.5 but I was able to avoid it by turning off the 32 bit plugs and saving the project before closing. Then after opening the project just enable the offending plug and move on. I think it was either B4fx or jamstix that caused the problem for me. now I have B4II and jamstix is 64 bit so no more problems.
