I know most of the techno drum loops packs are lame. I do have Billy Cobham drums and I like that very much because they are very expressive. Has anyone tried they orchestra percussion, cinematic per, pianos, guitar and synth expansion?

I am thinking about buying 150 credit and get another 150 credit for free in BOGO sale. So that I can get ST 3 MAX.

Any opinion welcome. Good or bad?

You can't buy SampleTank Max, or any Max pack with credits...

I have all the expansions except the new Orchestral Percussion,
and it's on my list...

While not the greatest, there are definitely usable sounds in the expansions...
the piano's are ok, and the drums...cinematic percussion is also ok...

I wanted to get Total Studio Max, but can't buy it with credits...so that
got kaboshed...

If you but 150 credits, you'll get only 100 credits. Now you get equal amount of credits.
As for expansions, yes, American Guitar and Cinematic percussion do sound good. I also have Alan Parsons piano and it is versatile, fits any mix really well. AFAIK, synth extension isn't great, people often complain or regret buying it.

Art Deco piano is nice too, as are some of the drummers. Forget the synth expansions indeed. Get the 200 credits with a payment of $159 (minus 30% in Jam Points if you have them, so the least you'll pay is $112) and you'll get another 200 credits on top for a total of 400.

Like Fleer said, get the gear credits, then you can figure out what you want. Other than the EDM things, most the packs are pretty good. I agree the Art Deco piano is the best of the 3 and Cinematic Percussion is good too.  I'm prob in the minority but I thought Future Synth was better that I thought it would be. Maybe the best thing about it is it's in SampleTank3 so handy if you are working in there. American Acoustic is pretty good too.

Everyone has their own taste but I abhor that Alan Parsons piano. I think it was recorded into an Edison Horn onto wax cylinders. All those drum kits are fun to mess with though. They all seem good quality and each has a different vibe. The acoustic guitar really surprised me by being quite usable. Even EDM guys hate those EDM kits.

Here is a little trick to make AP piano more responsive:
click Edit tab and adjust Velocity Amp knob to around 40.
Acoustic Resonance and Piano Lid FX can help shaping the sound to your liking.

There's other options out there. I may get it if goes on sale for half.   There's the Evolution series at 40% off. VSL Percussion and More is affordable.

One of these days I will have to spend some time auditioning the 80GBs of Sampletank sitting on my drive.
