I was offered the opportunity on more than one occasion to become a Beta tester but then, just as now, i simply do not have sufficient time to devote to such an undertaking.

To be honest, im not even sure who that guy is. I've seen his videos but that's about it.
Not sure what "give away" your referring to.

It was indeed very time consuming - oftentimes you'd have to spend entire evenings trying to reproduce bugs under various conditions and steps. I had (and still have) a handful of projects that I used as beta "testing grounds" - basically throwing whatever I could at them and using them as established environments where I could test the program and new features in real world situations instead of testing things "bare" in fresh new projects. Other testers may have differed in their approach but that's how I worked. Some of my beta projects even started to flourish as actual tunes, I'll share them if I ever get the chance to bloody well finish them (one is over 20 minutes of beta-inspired mayhem).

Sonar 3 through Sonar 5 when Ron Kuper was focused on making the audio engine more efficient, and he was posting in the public forums all the time about it.
