I downloaded Sonar to evaluate it. After a few hours, I decided I wanted to buy, and came back to the website, only to find out that the product has been discontinued.

Anyone familiar with a daw that has decent/acceptable support for notation & lyrics?

Yes Cakewalk is officially closed, no longer developing or selling software.
There are numerous products
Cubase, ProTools, Mixcraft, Samplitude X3, Studio One 3, Reaper 5, and the list goes on. You could always use google to look for DAW with Notation.

Thanks for your feedback. I did find DAWs with notation, but only a few with lyrics. I thought maybe someone else might be more familiar.

That’s because there only are a few that will do it all including lyrics. Probably the most competent being Cubase at the moment followed by Digital Performer. I haven’t personally checked out Reaper but it has a demo you can try. Studio One has an add on called Notion but it’s not intergrated into the DAW
Pro Tools also does notation and lyrics and they too have a demo though I don’t know if any of the demos from the above let you access notation and lyrics editing.

Another good resource is You Tube where you should be able to find overviews of all the DAWs’ notation and lyrics views.
Hope that helps a little more. Sorry I brushed you off a bit before. The place is in a bit of a state. It’s just been a week since we woke to the news that Sonar was no more. I’ve been using it in its various forms since 1993 and there are folks here right from the beginning in 1987.

Anyway, best of with your search.
